If you are running XP service pack 2 or higher you have the Windows firewall installed.
Windows firewall will always conflict with a third party firewall and despite the fact Norton informs you the Windows firewall is disabled it's not.
Norton is a serious resource hog, consider removing Norton and going with one of the free antivirus apps like AVG 8.0 or Avast.
Enabling the Windows firewall and using a router will protect you, all modern routers have a built in hardware firewall.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

I received this message on my Mac this morning, in a Norton Notification box. What does this mean? Vulnerability BLOCKED When: Jan 17, 2011 10:11:35 AM From:|13858.na.sas.com Attack Name:...

The following is a technical description of the event you have experienced:

When DNS data packets are sent to a port on your computer that is not open, this is called a portscan. While portscans from an unknown computer can be potentially harmful, a portscan from your ISP or its DNS is most likely harmless and can be ignored. If you know the IP address for your ISP, you can find out if the portscan is coming from your ISP, by clicking View recent activities in Norton Confidential and viewing the Activity Log.

In layman's terms this means that you have been protected by your Norton system and you do not need to take any further action.

So, all should be OK and nothing to worry about.

Youtube website is blocked, how can i unblock it

That's the point. You can't. We routinely block Facebook, YouTube and Messenger by keywords on our sites and it's blocked in the router.
None of those sites belong in the environment we're providing for employees (in our case) as they are not productive to work.

If I need access to those sites, I either do it on my own time at home, or plug in my Aircard.

Please help my computer keep having a pop about a virus and worm but I already have Iolo protection but now it just locks everything up it keeps saying activate this new protection

Be real careful, because there are websites that will launch this dialog box and no matter which answer you choose.... YOU LOSE! because it'll install a virus..
Your best bet is a program such as NORTON Utilities or a reputable app.
Keep it running in the background and even if you run into one of these foney dialog boxes again, simply force quit your program without closing the dialog box... be careful..

Unable to open live TV in HP PC Media Center

Look at the alerts in the security and firewall of Norton antivirus. It might be blocking it. also keep an eye on your bottom right corner when you attempt the live TV. Norton may be alerting you about the blocks in that area. Make sure you allow those connections. I would check Norton firewall and security before messing with the Windows firewall.

D-Link DIR-625 Wireless Router is Blocking Web Address

Hi jshaw51

HERE's D-Links listing for your router.

HERE's where you can find downloads, etc. for the router. (including an owner's manual) You'll need to choose your router's version then you'll be directed to the appropriate page.

(01) Can you access this web site from any of the other computers on your LAN (when this router is connected)?

(02) Have you ever been able to navigate to this web site from the computer you're referring to while this particular router is connected?

(03) Have you recently installed any other networking equipment or a software firewall on one or more of your LAN computers?

(04) Were you able to ping the LAN computers prior to the onset of this problem?

(05) Can the LAN computers ping your computer? If not, were they able to previously?

(06) Has anything occurred or any changes been made that precipitated or coincided w/ the onset of this problem?

(07) Do you have any other information regarding this issue?

(08) If you like, you can **first** backup your router's configuration and **second** reset it to factory defaults and see if the problem persists.

(09) You can readily restore the backup. This will just be a quick way to determine if the problem is w/ the router configuration (assuming you were able to navigate to the site in question when you 1st got your router.)

Please, post back here w/ answers to these questions along w/ any observations or questions you might have.

We'll continue to work w/ you until the problem is resloved.

Please, hold off on assigning ratings to any of the experts' contributions until you're all set and have no more questions for us. (Once you assign ratings, the problem will be automatically closed and we'll no longer be able to assist you.)

Thank you,
BJ @:)
