Question about Wacom Intuos3 Graphic Tablet

Wacom Intuos 3 on Leopard No Longer Working

My tablet was working perfectly fine for almost half a year and then, just this last week it stopped working. When an error about the drivers not responding occurred, I sent it to Apple and restarted. The preferences menu wouldn't find the tablet. I restarted and tried again, and still it would not work right. I reinstalled the drivers from the disk that came with my tablet and that worked for a day. Today, I went to use my tablet and my system preferences, at first, it said something along the lines of having drivers for the tablet that did not match. I restarted and when system preferences said that it could not find my tablet, I downloaded and installed the newest drivers from Wacom. I repaired permissions and restarted. I still have had no luck. My drivers and my operating system are both up to date.... Can anyone help? I have a similar problem with the Wacom Intuous 4 (CTE). Worked fine on Tiger, need to continuously reinstall the driver on Leopard. Sometimes it can be found, other times Leopard says it is not there. I have removed the application as per Wacom support, repaired permissions, reinstalled the driver and repaired permissions again and it will work as long as I do not shut down my computer. I put it in stand by every night and every morning the tablet is not there. This is getting tiresome.

I had the same problem. Repairing permissions didn't help, but deleting old software and reinstalling new WACOM software did. Thank you, Swedey! :o)

SOURCE: intuos 3 tablet does not function in a client environment in Leopard

Hello, you have to update the tablet driver for every client using it... As the tablet is USB, it needs the driver updated on every Mac. If you need the Standard accounts to have the updated driver, you can temporarily change the account settings in the System Preferences to Administrator privileges

When I go into certian programs like inkscape or the newer Gimp my wacom pen wont draw, but it will select items. yet if I use an older gimp 2.0 it works fine I have the intuos 3 ptz -431w actually it did...

I didn't solve it myself (a lady named Linda deserves the credit) ... but the solution at the following URL worked for me when I encountered the same problem with inkscape0.47 and intuos 4 wacom tablet pen:

Thanx, Linda!!!

Intuos 3 Pen/Stylus suddenly stopped working (as in dead).

Will the tablet work with the mouse? If it does not, is not working is the blue LED light on. If the LED is not working try another usb port. If the mouse works go into the Wacom tablet properties from the start menu. Select the grip pen from the tools. Click on the default button to restore the stylus to factory settings. When you press the pen you should see the pressure scale rise. You can also test the eraser pressure. You could also replace the stylus tip to see if that works. From the Wacom site you can order a new stylus or tips if it is found defective.

Wacom Intuos3 stopped working when I upgraded to Leopard

I did solve it myself. Having downloaded the new drivers off the Wacom website, I hadn't realised they were still sitting on my desktop waiting to be installed. Once I found the folder and opened and installed it everything worked fine!
