Question about Nikon Coolpix L1 Digital Camera
The card that came with the camera suddenly stopped working: I received an error message "This card cannot be used". I have since purchased two more cards (Sandisk 2GB, that I learned is not supported for this camera, and then a Sandisk 1GB, that should work but doesn't), all three cards brings up the same error message. No buttons work, so I cannot get to the menu to Format the card. The camera will work without a card in the slot, but that is not practical. I cannot find a way to do a hard reset on the camera (I did reset the factory settings with the card(s) out, but that did not help).
The I/O chip that communicates with the card may have failed, or the card connector on the circuit board is defective. Take the camera to the Nikon service rep to verify this.
To service this type of fault, if it is not a simple solder connection that they can get at, they will change the complete I/O circuit board.
