I Have a Brother 3500XLt sewing machine. When I sew the tension will not adjust right , I have tried everything I could think of, but I still get loops on top. I hope you can help.
I think I found the problem. The plastic above the bobbin case does not line up with the steel bobbin slant that thread goes through, so I do it by hand and both stitches are perfect on both sides. meia02, lift the bobbin cover off and the grey bobbin case holder,insert the thread directly into the tension slot, then put grey cover on and put thread through guide slot .snap on boobin cover. Im having a similar problem, im very new to sewing unfortunatly. so you think that you could walk me threw fixing this? i dont know what you mean by how you fixed it.

I had many problems with tension until I moved the thread spool to the back on an outside stand. Check the thread guide path for lint. If everything is good then read the manual about adjusting the tension.
I might have the same problem and I think is due to the fact that the needle is too close to the foot so the adjusting of the tension does no influence.
I have that same model and that same problem. In fact, this problem was there from the start! That's why I haven't touched my Brother Xr7700 for years. This time around I changed the needle and everything went to hell!
Be sure of your threading, read the manual even if you think you know how to thread the machine. Also, make sure that your bobbin thread is in the tension spring the right way. If you are missing your manual go online to brother.com and customer support for a free copy to download. If, you still have problems try some metal bobbins, #15 works fine
It is in your top threading, something is not right in the path. Always remember, it is the opposite of what you think. So, underside will mean that the top thread is the problem
Sounds like you have tried everything possible, be sure you are using an anti static needle on the delicate fabrics, if that does not work it really does mean fiddling with the tensions until you get it dead right
