how to replace keyboard? can a non-techie do it?

just the shift key is partially disfunctional

  • fredrikstad Jul 22, 2008

if you are unhappy about the rating it is because i am unhappy about the reply, it does not answer the question

  • fredrikstad Jul 23, 2008

Thanks for showing a place to download manuals. My Lifebook c1320 manual is not there, and the clostes relative contains chinese symbols that make my lifebook run out of lifebreath, I do not see any instructions on how to change the keyboard in the first half of the manual which is in english.

I appreciate your patience, it must be tough on the nervous system.

It looks like you answered your own question - you really can't fix a laptop keyboard, but you can replace them. (or you can use an external keyboard)

Now is your problem:?
Letters qwert, asdfg, zxcvbn work OK but uiop displays as 456/ jkl displays as 123 and m displays as 0. Other keys also do not display correctly. Or holding the function key down at the same time as the problem keys ?

Then the solution is:
The problem was caused by accidentally pressing the num lock key. Once pressed, it remains locked even after a reboot. Pressing again returns the keyboard to normal.

The answer is a non techie can not fix it. I gave you all you need to fix it yourself including the manual and you wonder why people don't give information for free anymore. They are insulted when they give an answer.

How do you replace the fan on a Fujitsu s2210 laptop?

How to Replace a Fujitsu LifeBook S2210 Fan
1. Follow your laptop owner's manual and assembly guide carefully as you disassemble the laptop. Touch something metal periodically to remove static charge, and work on a large table with a bright light source.
2. Turn off the laptop and unplug it. Remove the main battery, DVD drive , Ac adapter and the hard drive. The hard drive is usually located in a slot on one side of the laptop. Remove the screw that holds the cover in place, then pull out the hard drive, screen sled.
3. Turn the laptop over and remove the screws on the bottom that hold the keyboard in place. Flip the laptop over, open it, then lift the keyboard up and out. Unplug the flexible ribbon cable that connects the keyboard to the motherboard.
4. Remove the screws that hold the laptop keyboard bezel and palm rest in place. Carefully pry loose any plastic snaps on the sides, then lift the bezel and palm rest up and out.
5. Unplug the Fujitsu LifeBook S2210 CPU Cooling Fan. Remove the screws that hold the heat sink and fan in place, then remove the entire unit from the laptop. Remove any thermal compound residue from the bottom of the heat sink and the CPU.
6. Apply a thin layer of thermal compound on the CPU, then replace the heat sink and cpu cooling fan. Replace the screws, plug the Fujitsu LifeBook S2210 Fan back in, then reassemble the laptop.
7. Plug the laptop in and turn it on. After you use it for a few minutes, you should hear the new Fujitsu cpu cooling fan running and feel warm air blowing from the vent on the side of the laptop. A Fujitsu LifeBook S2210 Fan does not run continuously, so don't be concerned if the Fujitsu LifeBook S2210 Fan shuts off periodically.

Shift key is not work on fujitsu life book

You may remove the key and remove any dust in there and place it back. This should fix the problem

Or else i think you have to change the keyboard. But in some cases, the keyboard is embedded to the motherboard. So that might be expensive, so in that case, try to use an external keyboard.

Need to replace a keyboard on a Fujitsu Lifebook N3010. Dropped beer on it. Now some of the keys aren't working. Would like detailed inst's on how to crack this comp open.

I have stripped many laptops down and to remove keyboard is reasonably complex and replacements are also expensive. Dowload a manual off the net is the best and follow instructions to the letter. Ther isnt enough room here to describe the procedure.

Keyboard sticking

Hello, A sticky keyboard can sometimes be fixed by removing the key as you've done, but sometime the trouble lies deeper in the keyboard. There are small contacts that can wear out or get built up with a surface film. Might be time to replace the whole keyboard. It's not that hard if you have the aptitude and they do come out and go in as a complete unit. Cost for a new one can be from $20 - 50. Try looking on ebay & the link below.

LifeBook T4210, some letters ont the keyboard doesn't work

hello

Some of the letters stop working due to dust that stuck between the pad and board..Or due to degradation.

So you can try cleaning the keyboard with vacuum cleaner and clean properly between the keys.

If the keys still don't work you can replace the keyboard as it is replaceable.

Thank you
