Dryer hot at first and then stay cold

Sounds like the thermocouple needs replaced. When ever the couple doesn't make enough electricity the gas valve is shut down automatically. Sounds like your thermocouple is right at the threshold of minimum voltage and doesn't generate enough voltage to keep valve open.

If not that try YouTube for some good diagnostic videos:

I have a Whirlpool gas dryer, I can see through the hole that the piolet light is not lit. Model #LGR7646EQ3. It is not heating to dry clothes, can I just try & relight the pilot light?

Hi, If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heatingthe most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glowssometimes it is still not working properly. if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip.... If you have an electric dryer, you can have many differentthings that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat. check outthis electric no heat tip...

Whirlpool dryer will not ignite.JET FLAME WILL NOT GO ON.

if the ignitor is lighting up, or if you have a actual flame pilot light, depending on the machine, if you have a pilot light, check the thermocouple that the flame from the pilot is supposed to heat , but thats on very very old machines , if you have a glow plug , ( a heat source that comes on electrically and glows , then you need to check the 2 coils that are on the gas valve, they have gone bad

Have a Whirlpool Gas Dryer - model # lgr7646a spins but no heat

Thre is no pilot light. This dryer uses an ignitor (glow bar or coil).
Open the lower front "door" (small access door) and turn on dryer.
If the ignitor does not glow (bright orange), then the ignitor needs to be replaced ($60).
If it does glow, then the gas valve needs replacement ($60).
If it isd the valve, the internal spring is stuck. Do not try to repair it, you must replace it.

Whirlpool gas dryer motor wont turn over

If the drum is not turning, then the belt may have broken and could be (because of the noise I think your describing, partially wrapped around the motor pulley.

Modern gas dryers do not have standing pilot lights. They are electronic ignition.

Chances are, you solve the belt problem, you'll solve the (I guess your having) heat problem.

Please respond with more detail of the problems you are having, and advise if the belt is broken.
