Personal settings

Hi my HP pavilion did an "update" a week or 2 ago and now I have lost all of my personal settings. (All of my personal files on the desktop) I have to do a search now to find anything. eg. documents, files, pics, etc.
Please help!!!

MasterIf you remember the exact date of the update you can uninstall it. If using XP, go to control panel and add/remove programs. there's a check box at the top to include updates in the list. Just scroll through the list and remove the update that made the changes.
