Question about Whirlpool Dryers

1 Answer

My dryer is about 10 years old. I had a belt replaced last year and currently it has stopped working. When I open the door the light comes on but when I press the start button I get nothing. My husband has replaced the fuses but it made no difference. I am pondering wether to call a repair man and spend the money on a service call or put the money toward a new dryer. Any advice? Kendra

My dryer is about 10 - 102610f.jpgHave you checked the Thermal fuse?It is also a good idea to check your door switch and the wires coming from it because they sometimes hang into the tub and wear out.

the door switch has something wrong with it,it's keeping the bulb on all the time and that's why it burnt out the first time, also you're missing the last four numbers on the model number

Stopped running. Can't start.

You probably have a clogged vent. If the moist air can't vent to outside your dry times would be much longer and the heat would get trapped in the dryer. This probably caused your thermal fuse to fail. Once that fails the dryer won't do anything. The good news is that it should be a fairly inexpensive repair.

Siemens Condensor Dryer E46-38. After a few

Mine is 4 years old and the pump went within 8 months! The dryer has had 6 new pumps in total! It was last fixed 6 months ago and now playing up again! I dont even constantly use my dryer! I am very disappointed with Siemens now, my last dryer lasted me 10 years and it was constantly on the go when my children were young! Here comes, tomorrow I have got to book another repair! No more Siemens for me.

What would make a dryer stop tumbling? It is about ten years old now. It turns on alright but just won't spin anymore. Its a MayTag so shouldn't it work forever! LOL

Probably just a broken belt. Unplug the dryer and open it up (PIX BELOW) clean out the dryer and inspect the wheels idler and blower cage. The belt is probably gone after 10 years. Here are some repair pix

I have a 10 year old Maytag Performa. It started

Hello, try checking the door switch, with no light in the drum it points to the door switch being bad. To test this unplug the machine, bypass the door switch with a wirenut..Don't forget to replace the switch if bad, the door switch is there for a reason. Good Luck!!! Please feel free to comment again if you have any other questions or concerns. Mike

My dryer makes a buzzing noise when I push the start button

My Hotpoint dryer is seven years old and did the exact same thing. When I got over the anger and the thought of spending 4 or 5 hundred dollars to replace it I started messing with it. I finally decided that since it buzzed when I tried to start it there was current there. The only other thing it could be was the drying cycle knob.
I held the start knob and let it buzz while I slowly turned the dryer cycle knob to the right. As I turned through each cycle it would hit "off" and the buzzing would stop and then resume as I moved past the "off " setting. On the third trip around the dryer "started" and has been working since. Maybe something got out of kilter. Apparently the problem was in the knob that controls the drying cycles.
