I own a P4 2.8ghz processor. I just replace the motherboard 6months ago I think, After 3-4 months it start to slowdown on boot. It took 2-3minutes before I can log-on. And while on GUI when I open 3-4 applications at the same time it hangs.. I dont have the budget to purchase a new set of pc. What can I do to lessen or prevent my PC from hanging and to speed it up.

Thank you very much for your help.

Tower powering up then.beeping and not doing anything just continuous beeping inside box

NOTE: Before making any attempt to remove or replace any part inside the casing, ensure that the power is off.

Well, the first thing that might be causing this is your memory card (RAM). Try to remove it and place it in another memory slot on the motherboard.

To be sure if your motherboard is still in good working condition, remove the memory card and power on the PC.

You should hear continuous beep sounds.

If you hear this then your motherboard is fine.

If placing the memory card in another slot does not work then the problem lies with the memory card itself. You will need to replace it.

It could also be that some faulting PCI cards are causing this error.

Try to remove your PCI cards. Normally a faulting PCI modem causes this type of error. Remove it and then power on the pc.

The processor cannot be faulty but still if you want to check it, remove the CPU Cooler fan. Then turn on the PC.

Place your finger on the processor for 2 seconds. You should find the processor heating up. Then turn it off immediately. If this works then your processor is good.
Remember not to leave it ON for more than 5 secs.

I cannot play 720p movies on my PC which has Windows 7 ultimate, CPU Intel Pentium DUAL E2160@1.80GHz, 1.5 GB RAM

Download the player vlc from the below link

this player might be able to play 720p movie on your pc.

The problem your facing is that your processor is clocked at 1.80GHz which is low,It should have been at least 2.20 or greater.

Also there are other reasons also like hard disk having slow rpms or if u have a solid state drive or maybe your onboard graphics cannot process these high resolution movies.

Please vote for me if the information was useful.

Computer lags when playing games

You really need more Ram. But if that's not an option, then open "Activity Monitor" under Utilities folder in Apps folder. Go to User Processes, and you can see exactly what's taking up your Ram and slowing your game. Quit each process and hope for the best. Don't fool with the System Processes section; you might quit a process that is essential to running your computer.

What is the basic difference between multitasking multiprogrammin

I would have expected that you would be asking the difference between
multithreading and parallel processing, which is simply a matter of using
sequential processor [multithreading] to simulate simultaneous data streams from multiple processors [parallel processing] while the terms you did inquire concerning are various terms of varying complexity which refer to the simultaneous accomplishment of various tasks.

A multithreading processor alternates the application of tasks to alternating clock cycles of the same processor.

A parallel processor has a matrix of multiple processors assigned to diverse tasks with streaming data from each clock cycle of the same processor for the same task.

multitasking simply means the simultaneous accomplishment of multiple tasks by any means including cyber or human.

Multiprogramming is the simultaneous operation of various alogorithms
where none are halted to allow the others to proceed, which process can be accomplished through with either parallel processors or a multithreaded processor.

Prior to the existence of multiple processors in a single CPU (ex. Core Duo) or even Multithreaded Processors [Pentium Four, PPC], certain types of looping algorithmic methods could be applied [and this programmer did apply such] to multiple tasks to create
the appearance that the tasks were accomplished simultaneously.
The latter was more of a Trompe l'Oeil

Computer seems too slow

Downloading files and processing files are two different things. How fast your computer downloads files is due to your Internet Service Provider. How fast it processes that information relies on a variety of components such as the processor its self, the RAM, as you mentioned, and sometimes your hard drive speed and space.

Figure out which process you are describing--either downloading files or actually opening and processing the files and you'll know where to go.

Just an FYI though, today's computers are shipped with at least 1 GB (1,024 MB) of memory.

ASROCK motherboard slow

The processor will generally either work or not.

You need to load the correct video drivers for the video card embedded on the motherboard.  You need to make sure the correct drivers for anything on the mainboard are installed.  After this, figure out if it is slower than before.

Out of curiousity, when did you change motherboards?

Slow computer

Have u got sufficient RAM to support all ur programs...Check with the Windows Task Manager (Right click on the Task bar) for the physical memory and page file usage in ur PC.

Using Task Manager itself...check whether any unknown process  like DC.exe, FUN.exe, etc., are running....OR...anyother process is running with more than 50% processor utilisation!

If any of the above symptoms are there, try changing to some other antivirus like Antivir OR Comodo and search for Malwares, and Viruses...

Have a nice day.

I hope ... this solves ur problem. :)

Microsoft Vista Too slow

Hiya what processor do you have in... its what & how your processor uses the ram available that would normally determine a happy environment. the minimum ram that Vista is happy and stable running on is 1gb.. so 1gb left over should in theory be enough to run all your office applications... what Version of Office are u running?

Have you recently installed an application that may be in conflict with vista?
Have you tried doing a virus and spyware scan? I would by process of elimination uninstall and reinstall programs to determine what... if any are causing any potential problems.
Do you defrag when necessary?

Try these first .. and we.ll go from there if necessary!
