Flush and replace pas fluid to verify fault. It could be in the steering rack.
If no improvement, try disconnecting steering rack from hubs and turn by hand to see if you can feel tightness. Check hubs for freeplay whilste undone.

Hello, I think Suzuki offered Peugeot/Citroen Diesel engines in the earlier models but started offering Renault Diesel in 2006. I believe that the gas motors were all Suzuki.
If you find that this info to be correct would you please enter a "fixya" rating.

Your vehicle is equipped with Rack and Pinion steering. You could have severe corrosion either in your ball joints, or your steering gear and tie rod end joints. what probably should be done is to determine exactly where it is coming from. The best way to do this is physical and visual inspection of all of the suspension and steering components. Many times a visual inspection with a trained eye can turn up the problem very easily. It may also be necessary to disconnect the steering gear tie rod ends to determine if this is being caused by steering knuckle/spindle ball joints. The "squeaks loudly" leads me to believe it is the ball joints. In any case, it is most likely causing the steering to bind and is causing an unsafe situation. This should be diagnosed and repaired as soon as possible. - the steering system is nothing to play with!

My steering is tight when I turn to the left I hear a slight grinding noise. I repalced the brakes and bearing.

U may want to grease ur steering knuckle under the hood or up under the dash if that does not help it may be that your steering column may have a problem with the pins inside , if so u should see a mechanic to diagnose the problem as the steering could lock up on you

My 1990 bronco has a lot of play in the steering i know its not the alighnment (or at least i think so) cause it doesn't pull one way or the other it drives straight but it has alot of play in the wheel is...

hi, there is an adjustment, on the top of the steering gear box, you will see a nut tightened against a cover on a stud. this is the sector shaft of the steering gear box. what you can do, is loosen the nut, and turn the shaft(not the nut) clockwise a quarter turn at a time(90 degrees only at one time) then check your steering wheel freeplay, you can go back and tighten a quarter of a turn again if not as tight as you want. do not tighten past one full turn! if you still can't get the steering free play tight as you want, you will have to replace the gearbox. when/if you do get the freeplay where you want, tighten the nut back down to spec. probably around 32 ft lbs. follow the steering shaft from the firewall to where the gearbox is located to find the nut i speak of right on the top or to the inside toward the engine.

Hello, I have a Suzuki Grand Vitara (2006). This morning, all of a sudden, I found it very difficult to turn left and right. It drives fine if I don't have to turn. :( The steering wheel gets very hard...

well, the first thing to check is the power steering fluid, make sure thats full. next thing is to make sure the belt is still on for the power steering and that it is tight,a loose or missing belt will cause this, if the fluid is full and belt is tight then we may be looking at a bad power steering pump or steering gear. to find out which of the two is the problem a preasure test needs to be done on the pump. hope this helps.

Changing Fuel filter on Susuki grand vitara, 2 pipes on the top of filter housing prevent it from turning. can I remove them and how. will it need bleeding. David from Yorkshire

Hi David,
To remove and replace the filter remove the two top pipes, they are held by a push clip. pop of get a socket to fit the nut and bar with ratchat apply pressure on the extention bar and very slowley turn anticlockwise. Lift the lid off to pull old filter out gently.Look at bottom of filter and undo the bottom drain hole bolt. Drain fuel out of the housing and make sure housing is clean. nip bottem bolt up very light finger tight no force or you will break Put back the rubber seal on the bottom side of of filter and gently reinsert filter back into the housing. Put a new rubber Oring to hold the main seal, put the lid back on, and gently turn clockwise to refit the filter.
Re connect pipes.
Turn ignition on for 30 seconds, turn off then turn back on to purge air from fuel lines and start the vehicle.

I have just bought a Suzuki Vitara 4u2, T Reg. Is it normal to feel like your swaying and jumpin all over the road when your driving it??

Hmmm, it's normal for the ride in a 4wd to feel "different" they feel like they wallow a bit in turns and shudder a bit over bumps compared to a car, but it should not be jumping all over the road! try the old suspension test, go to each corner of the car and give it a good hard push down and let go, if the car comes back up and setles, all is good, if it doesn't go down or if it bounces up and down, the shocks/struts need replacing. Also try grabbing each of the front wheels and trying to move them left to right, then up and down, if there is any clunking or movement (without the steering wheel moving) there is a problem. left and right wobble indicates steering problems, up/down wobble indicates a wheel bearing broblem.

HI i own a 1999 susuki vitara 4x4 2 dr. I am

The anchor points on the 2door are located just inside the rear door under the metal strip at the edge of the carpet, they usually have holes in the metal strip with plastic plugs covering them, move the back seat fully backward and tilt it back to suit the safety seat.
ps.. my kids are both in booster seats now, and prefer the vitara to the car! :-)
