Question about Frigidaire Refrigerators

Larder fridge is icing up inside have had a look at the back and noticed it is very hot

There are a couple of reasons for ice-up. Let's check them:

  1. First, clean any coils in the back or underneath completely.
  2. Defrost the unit thoroughly. This could take a while and may lead to a quart/liter of water coming out. Usually this takes a day or so but can be sped up with a hair dryer or other heat source...electricity and water DON'T mix!
  3. Make sure all circulation vents in the box are unblocked.
  4. Start the unit. Watch the larger of the two pipes coming to the compressor...that big black thing under the fridge. It should frost up and then either dry out or stay wet after a half hour or so. If the frost stays on while the compressor is running, you are short on refrigerant gas...you'll need to get additional gas added.
Note: minimize the amount of uncovered liquids, the amount of time the door stays open and clean off dirt on door gaskets (be sure they fit properly by sliding a sheet of paper between the gasket and the frame of the fridge...it should move with some snubbing.

If your fridge is built into the furniture, pull it out by releasing all the retaining screw, clean the condenser and the areas behind your fridge. Dust and fluffs reduce the efficiency of the fridge. Also turn the dial to three, if it is higher, older fridge do not need to be cranked to higher numbers. If no joy call an engineer, the level of refrigerant in your system may need topping up. Will cost you anything from sixty pounds for a qualified engineer to do this.

this is a defrost problem . either the A D C a pc board on the back side of the frig . this main board controls the temp[t and the defrost . and has failed . repl it and problem is over .. mm hope this has helped .. feed back pls ..

Water in bottom of fridge


Probably has ice frozen under freezer tray or drain tube may be blocked by ice diverting water through freezer to fridge vents.

Larder section of fridge not functioning


check the drain that is inside of the freezer compartment at the bottom. you may have to disssasemble the covers to get to it. if its clogged the water turns to ice real quick and blocks air to the refrigerator

Hotpoint fridge


that is probably caused by heath at the back of the fridge, check if the coil at the back is getting too hot.

Check if defrost system fan at the back of the fridge is working.

Ice build up


Check that the door is closing properly otherwise the freezer will be working overtime to cool and ice will form. If the door seal is good, it is possible that the thermostat needs to be checked.

I have a larder fridge that seems to collect too much water in the tray at the back, it seems to be temperamental with cooling. It only works part time. How affected are they by not being completely level?...


this water should be evaporated by the motor heat.however, i have found with larger larder fridges of several makes that too much water is formed for it all to go.
worth while checking the door seals as well as if seal is leaking, more ice forms on the evaporator and hence more water
