You mean to say is "dead set' .This kind of trouble is in power supply section busted fuse or busted regulator transistor ,or maybe no depected parts only brittle, loose, crack or cold solder joint of the circuit board...

    Coldsolder issues - each
    component is soldered into small
holes on the printed circuit board which in turn connects said
    component to the
other components. Due to time, heat, use, some solder joints would be
    cracked
or loose. It is possible that the cold solder is still minimally
    connected
(hanging by a thread). When the TV turns on heat would be
    generated which would
be sufficient to further loosen up the solder joint to the point it no
    longer
provides electrical contact. Jarring the unit creates movement inside
    enough to
re establish the contact, sometime good enough sometimes not enough.

Again, since the unit still operates (sometimes) then it is highly
probable that there are no defective components. As you have surmised, it is
possibly a loose connection, solder joints are "connections"
except that molten soldering lead is used to attach/connect the component to
the board, "loose connection" in this sense is equal to "cold
    solder".

Again on the assumption of no defective parts, then seeking a more
    experienced
buddy for the soldering might be to your advantage. This is of course
    in
addition to the possible electrical hazards when repairing.don't forget to rate ;this is the only way i get paid for my works thank you in advance..

    Good luck:

When you are auto tuning the system will not store a channel which is week by its standard ( at least 60% signal strength ) This done to avoid grainy picture and hissy sound.
You can go into manual tuning and store it.

TV won't "talk" with satellite cable

Try to see if you have 5volts for your EEPROM. If the voltage is normal try to replace your EEPROM or try to reprogram it. Your EEPROM is corrupted so that's why it will not store data.

Channel Reception

It sounds like a defective tuner or a IF module as well. It may also be a defective capacitor(s) or cold solder joints inside the tuner circuitry. I woud suggest to use a VCR or a TV convertor connected to an Audio/video input to change channels instead of fixing it.
Good Luck.
