Cannot get wirelss connection through my WRT160N wireless router. Was working and now not. I can get internet connection through the LAN ports so I know that the router is working with a fixed cable

by default ip address of linksys is 192.168.1.1
to star config you need to be connected with ethernet cord rj-45
or conenct via wireless by conencting to linksys on wireless

*choose a protocol on your linksys router on internect conenction type:

check isp protocol :
dhcp: needs serail number of mac address
it picks up automatic
pppoe: needs username and pws from isp

*the ip address has to be diferent from the isp modem:
isp modem 192.168.1.1 linksys 192.168.1.1 incorrect
isp modem 192.168.1.1 linksys 192.168.2.1 correct

How do i connect this router to my cable modem i dont have any drivers for it

If you are looking for any firmware drivers for the Linksys WRT160N Wireless Router you can find them on this page link: http://www.linksysbycisco.com/LATAM/en/support/WRT160N
However, I am not sure you need drivers for the router if you want to hook it up to your cable modem. If you have the installation CD you can easily follow the instructions for installing a new router and you should get through with the installation in a matter of minutes.
I hope you get everything up and running soon. Thanks for choosing FixYa.com!!

All i can see is linksys and not the wireless name i set up. i have reset the modem and wireless router

I suppose you set-up the new name on the routers setup page. Does it save the new name when you changed the ssid? if it does, then try refreshing the list on your wireless computer. The linksys name that you may be seeing on the computer is a profile name. In that case, try deleting all profile and refresh the list again.
