I wish to change the backround picture on my desktop to one of my personal pictures, the usual routes that i would have taken on other laptops dont work on this one, can you help please?

Click start control panel,display,desktop you can select a different desktop from the drop down list also there should be a browse button where you select your own personal picture saved in my pictures also settings you can change the settings for more or less pixels or from the drop down list pick the appropriate level of color range or troubleshoot also select advanced then general
dpi normal size,larger size or custom settings
always click APPLY after making any changes

Hi. Ok, try this.
Go to where your pictures a re stored and find the one you want to use.
Right click on it, and it should offer the option of "set as background image"

Try that and see if it works

If not, then try this.

Right click on your current display, and select properties
next click on the display tab
to select the picture you want, click the browse button, highlight the picture you want, and the location of that pic should be in the enter box
click ok, or accept.

Then click apply, otherwise the picture will just go back to what you had before the very next time you boot up
