I am having the same problem with my Windows Media Player, and so far no help till version 12 comes out - Seems the last update didn't go so well, and I don't want to reinstall my system.

But, I have found a free workaround - download VLC media player - the cross-platform media player and streaming server -
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

It plays the video DVD's beautifully (and about everything else)

I will keep looking - but that is all I can find for now.

Hi allisalevall,

If you cant watch a DVD movie you need to install a codec pack on your computer so that you can view the movie on your system. Click here to download. Enjoy watching.

Don't forget to say Thanks. Thanks for using Fixya.

Sir,
the code you see with ? explains that your drivers are not verfied by the windwos system32 compatiblity it usually get this way because of windows updated. You are suggested to rather download new windows to you system.

Sound wont work on my new dell a546s

Hi ,
Can you be more specific ?
Are you performing clean install ? In this case I believe it is hotfix issue, but on other hand if you do not have this hotfix windows will not install driver for audio. anyways this is not a bad thing to have, so install it and then try to install driver again.

Seems the memory is not comatable with the motherboard. Replace the old memory and visit http://www.crucial.com, they have a scanner tool which will confirm what mem can be installed.

My dvd driive in my computer won't play dvds

Do you mean DVD movies wont play? If so you need to install DVD software. Use Google to search for some or buy some e.g. PowerDVD.

I have recently been using dvdshrink 3.2 to backup some of my kids dvds..I am nearly almost computer illiterate so been trying to figure out how to use it. A friend recently downloaded dvdfab because...

Everytime you copy a DVD it stores that DVD image on your drive, usually 4GB+. If you have room to save these files that is fine, you can always make another copy by using the "Open Files" button on DVDShrink.

It sounds like you HDD is getting full of these temporary files. In DVDS you click "Open Disc" and it does a quick scan. Then "Backup" and it does a full read/write to this temporary location (target files). Then it ejects disc and you insert a blank one.

If this sound familiar, when you click "Backup" there will be two drop down selections, one source (top) and one target or destination (bottom). The destination path (ie c:\movies\temp\<movie name> is where these files are located,

Navigate to that folder and you should see several folders of the movies you have backed up. Once you have made the back up, the movie folders are safe to delete.

If you need more info let me know,

PS Between DVDShrink and DVDFab, I just use which ever one reads the disc. There is no major difference.
