if your ps3 has a message of trophy registration error sony will say you need to turn in your ps3 for service this is not true i fixed mine by saving my game data on a thumbstick then deleted the game save data shut off my ps3 then turned the main power (the switch in the back) off for a few minutes to allow the power to dissipate. Then i restarted the ps3 copied my game save data back and my COD modern warfare 2 played like a champ! i did lose all of my trophies but the game saved data allowed for 12 percent of them to come back apon completing one special op mission.

Try resting your PS3 To factor default settings. Here's how - (WARNING: This will most likely wipe-out all saved games, demos, & etc). Restoring your PS3 to original settings. This is how it's done: Turn off PS3, Unplug PS3, Wait a couple minutes and re-insert plug, Push & hold-down power button until you hear 4 beeps (1,1,2) then let off the power. It should show you a page with restoring options, or a prompt of YES or NO of wanting to enter the Restore Options Page. Choose the one that you would like to do. Sometimes you have to power cycle a few times to get this to work properly.
truthfully there isn't much you can do. really the only true solution here is call up Playstation and hope they cant do something.
if not do what i always do store your data on a spar usb so if that happens nothing is lost but the work u did since you saved it.
it may sound **** but it's better than restarting in my book
