For free, I recomend Gimp, it has great expansion possibilities and comes with lots of cool tools.

Aperture 2 and photoshop are also great solutions if you want a nice suite with great guides, help and customer support.

Depends on what you want to do. For general photo storage, organization and amateur editing, I LOVE Graphic Converter. You could also 'dance with the one who brought ya' and use iPhoto.

I accidentally deleted my pictures from peru ,how can i retrieve them back?

you need to explain where you deleted your photos from. If they were on a pc hard disk there may be software that allows you to undelete them. killdisk has such a utility. If you deleted them to your recycle bin are they still there. If they were on flash media you might have some serious problems. If the photos are very important to you contact a data recovery company and explain the situation, they will be able to give you advice but please check for reviews of their services before approaching them...some companies are more expert than others

How to change the background on your mac laptop

1. Figure out what image you want and save it to an appropriate easy access like on your desktop. I find it easiest to make a folder on your iphoto of a photo or photos you want as your desktop background and name the folder background.
2. Then click on your system preferences.
3. Then under personal click on desktop and screensaver.
4. Then on the left side you can pick what photo(s) you want according to where you put them. If you made a folder click the folder or the one photo.
5. You can change things like how often the photos change or if they are in order.
Tips: Different photos fit differently on your screen, not all will fit the screen completely especially if your get them online. Most photos that are taken on a camera can fit the screen.

How do i create a viedo

Go into Photo Booth
Red 4 pictured looking app like the photo attached! If you cannot find it, go to the top right hand corner and search for it.
Now that you have photo booth open, you will need to make sure the green light of you mac camera turns on when the app opens, (running other photographic programs in the background or webcam sites will stop your camera until closed) and out of the bottom row of buttons/options on the app (second picture) you will need to click on the 3rd button on the left, the two separated frames, and once you have done that the red button will turn to a videocamera instead of a normal one, and you can begin recording videos on your mac with special effects, etc. :)

Where do you put photo memory card in macbook pro

MacBook Pros before late 2009 contain no SD card slot for the photo memory card to be inserted into. Instead, leave the memory card in the camera, attach the camera via a USB cable and wait for the card to show up on the desktop.

Pictures uploaded from my cellphone and are saved on my desktop

First close any application that you may have open that used the photo...or that you used to view or edit the photo.
The problem could be that the application or photo was in use. Usually it won't allow you to delete a file that is in use by a program.
Once you are sure that the applications are closed. then click on the photo (if this is a Mac) and press and hold down the the apple command key (one on each side of your spacebar) then hit the delete key. The item should disappear...(it moves it to the trash)
Or you can just drag and drop it to the trash.
Hope this helps. Have a great day!

Trying to scan a photo from my HP Photosmart 2575 to my Macbook

Hi,
You can't scan directly into iPhoto however the software that came with your HP scanner should have something that can. If you don't have the software you will need to download it from the much easier to navigate HP.com site. Once you have scanned them using HPScan you can transfer them into iPhoto by drag and drop from app to app or Finder to iPhoto.

All the best
