No! there is no reset, the power surge has more than likely damaged the keypad controller, and on the back is a circuit board that has the microprocessor with additional components that controls the vital areas of the microwave oven. If that is gone, it is cheaper to replace than to repair.

My Magic Chef microwave oven blows fuse when i open door

If you're blowing fuses from opening the door that is the sign of a electrical short . You'll need to call a electrician to check it out. Changing the fuse in this unit can kill you. There's a capacitor that holds stored electrical energy that is dangerous. My good friend died from trying to change the fuse in his. Get a professional to check it.

MCO160 microwave and cook vent appliance problem--there was a power surge and now only the light works--is there a reset button?

no reset button. if you are getting lights that means you are getting power and all your fuses are good. you may have a bad control board caused by the surge

Turns on and off itself

If unit heats your problem is in the control board, most commonly would be one of your door switches

I arrived home from a week of traveling for work and all of a sudden my magic chef mco160uw doesn't work anymore!

thats life, if it can go wrong it will go wrong?
its just unlucky it went when it did most likly it was sat about and got cold and damp, you come home switched it on,,, it went pop! and died on you
its a comon thing with microwaves there very much like light bulbs,,, work for years then for no reson at all the just dont work any more,,,,,
my advice it check the fuses if all ok, bin the microwave,,, dont be temted to go inside of it as you may just kill your self doing it,,,there are 1000' of volts of power inside the thing and if you tuch the wrong part it fry's you the capacitor can hold its charge for a very long time and this charge will kill
have you ever seen a tazer working???
well this capacitor is its "very big brother!" and its not a case of,,, big deal, only 20.000 volts it realy is a big deal as its more likely to be 200.000 volts
please just bump it if its not a fuse in the plug,,,,,,,
be safe not dead

Micro looses all power during cooking, power returns after a few

This is a defect. RERURN it while it is still under warranty. Tell the counter person you need to speak to his/her supervisor if they give you that song and dance again. Threaten to file a complaint with the better business bureau and with your state's attorney general. Be firm but polite and insist that they honor the warranty.

Magic chef mco160uw Tray not turning and light off

The problem will be a bad relay, a component that drives the relay, or a broken trace on the circuit board.

This blown trace happens a lot when the cooktop lights blow.

We regularly repair such control units for customers nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid in about a week with a one-year guarantee.

My microwave magic chef mco160uw just keeps turning on by itself. The microwave is only about 5 months old

The first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

If it still fails, you have a failed keypad.

This can be dangerous, and you should keep it attended to when in use (as with any microwave) and unplugged when not in use.

Since it's less than one year old, it should be fully covered under warranty. I'd suggest contacting the manufacturer to get it fixed free.

MICROWAVE WILL ONLY HEAT ON CERTAIN SETTINGS. how do i set the heating instructions?

I have a Magic Chef model MC0160UQ. Within 2-3 minutes of heating food it shuts off completely for about 5min. Also, when I select the low fan it does not work, however the high fan works. Please assist with these issues if possible. Am I able to fix or adjust the magnetron myself since it may be overheating? or what should i do?????
