Can't find a manual lever to open the gas tank. Electrically it is not opening. I have lexus RX330, 2004.

If mower blades are run mechanically...I mean...lever tightens belt...then check belts/linkage/pulleys.

My friends mower electrically engages blades...not with a manual lever. So check for both

Fuel tank doors can be operated electrically or by cable, you say 'release lever' so that points to a cable system, if they do not open, access to the flap can be gained by removing internal trim/carpet and manually operate the lock, check if the cable is connected to the back of the lever. In a pinch use a coat hanger. Open the coat hanger so that it is one long piece of metal and cover one end with black tape to protect your paint. place it so that it hooks the tank cover. Push the button to open the tank cover while gently pulling on the coat hanger. Voila

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome. Try going through the trunk. There might be a cord or an access port that you may be able to find to get through. It should be on the same side as the gas tank port/gas cap. If your manual gas tank opener is not working, you might be able to get a hold of the cable and pull it. There is a cable that opens it.

If the lever itself is broken remove it it will have a cable attached to it. unhook the lever from the cable and pull the inner cord of the cable with plyer's or simular. If the lever is'nt broken it may be stressed so follow the same process. As to removing check arround the lever for screws if no screws the lever pivets on a pin gently tap out the pin with a small punch and hammer if you havent got a suitable punch then file or cut the point of a small nail.

More than likely the metal spring on the inside of the gas door is broken where the plastic attaches. Have someone hold the fuel door lever in the release position while you gently use a flat head screw drive to open the door. The part should cost you less than $10 at Toyota.
