SOURCE: Suddenly quit working

Looks like the lens of the player is dirty or damaged. Try a lens cleaner CD first.

If it doesn't work then you will have to get the lens replaced. Since the Player is still under warranty use while you still can..

SOURCE: HD-A3 Movies Don't Play Video, but Menus are fine?

Might be a resolution issue, the menus are most likely in 480, while the video might be in a resolution not supported by your tv. Try changing the resolution and see what happens.

SOURCE: My Oppo DVD player suddenly froze in mid-play, and

clean the lens with a dvd/cd lens cleaner (walmart, radio shack, etc.). or if you're feeling adventurous, remove the top, remove the dvd shuttle cover, and clean the lens with a q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol. wip it off gently ad blow it dry with your mouth (as opposed to a hair dryer). the alcohol will evaporate. put it together and try it out. if it still doesn't read, you may need to replace the optical pickup (lens and motor).

SOURCE: suddenly it won't finish loading a disc. and even

It is possible that the detect sensors are malfunctioning result in the false trigger of the input detector. So in the first place open the front loading section and clean up the CD take up section. Notice the optocoupler sensors which are the cd detect sensors that could be the culprit in this case. Use a multimeter to check for action on the sensor by blocking and confirming for changes in voltage. If so replace the unit. If not you must also check the mechanism for possible misalingment. remove carefully the mechanism and reset after cleaning. Get help if you are not familiar but be very delicate to do this job if inexperienced. Hope you try with care. Good day

The DVD player built into the unit has suddenly stopped working. We can load and eject as normal, but it doesn't play the disc. Pressing PLAY displays the "No disk loaded" message.

Disc do not loads into it properly. Is a loading mechanism fault. Contact any service technician. The disc loading mechanism should take out from the set for repair. Reset factory settings for toshiba S241-504

Back up all of you data to an external drive before you begin the process
If you make a mistake during the process, your laptop may not be able to turn on or load the
operating system, so copy valuable information to media where you can retrieve it, even if your laptop malfunctions.

Turn on your system and wait for it to finish loading Windows and start-up programs.
You can tell when the operating system has loaded, and start-up programs have been initiated, by the HDD (hard disk drive) light.
It should have came with discs. Put one in and reboot the laptop
Insert the system disk when the hard disk light stops blinking, signaling that the processor has finished accessing the hard disk, and that the system is idle. Shut down your laptop after you insert the disc.
You do not have to wait for the computer to access data from the disc.

Turn on the laptop again. Keep pressing the "C" key continuously as the system boots. This will enable the laptop to boot from the disk. Once the disk is accessed, the laptop will show

the message "Loading Files;" begin the factory reset process by always selecting the default option that pops up.

You can also use the "F12" key to boot from the disk.
Highlight the CD/DVD option and press "Enter" to begin the restore process.

Follow the on-screen instructions until the process finishes

Restoring a Toshiba laptop back to factory settings may take 30 to 45 minutes.

Unless you terminate a process by pressing "Cancel," your laptop will be rolled back to factory defaults, when the operating system installs completely.

hope this helps

Dvd problems

The issue is the motor will need to be replaced, And why i always suggest to cosumers not to buy all in ones for this purpose. The labor to fixy this is over $100 bucks alone and the part you need to replace the entire dvd unit in this.

1. check your warranty
2. bring it to a shop to have the unit fixed

My 0xc000000c "Restore Failed" prompt seemed to be the result of disk surface damage on the restore disk. After burning the restore disk to a new disk, the restore proceeded normally. Try making a copy of the original restore disk to a known good blank disk.

When a disc is loaded, it reads no disc, and disc cannot be played.

It is very possible that the lens motor has burnt out. Sometimes the capacitors on the motherborard short out causing the gear timing to go out..

The only thing you can do to fix this is to take the cover off. Get cotton swab and dip it rubbing alcohol and clean the glass laser eye with it.
