Question about Dell Inspiron 6000 Notebook
Several weeks ago, I got error message indicating that my battery needs replacement, Although I didn't replace the battery, I used my laptop always plugged in so that I don't have to worry about the battery. Now, even when I plug the laptop to the outlet, it still indicates it is running on battery. After a few minutes of running it just shuts off (as if the battery is completely drained). My question is if purchasing a new batter will solve the problem?
Possibly. To tell if it's just a battery issue, take the battery out and try starting it on AC only. If your machine starts and works properly then the battery is the only problem and replacement will cure it. If it won't start or doesn't work properly, then I'm afraid the failing battery has shorted the power managment chip on the motherboard. So, give it a try, and let me know. If you have any other questions feel free to ask.
