Got my brothers old comp, reloaded windows now wireless wont work

Did you install a retail version of Windows? You should have used the restore disc that came with the laptop when you purchased it. That will solve driver related problems if your wireless card is okay.
Check Device Manager if wireless card is still there.
If you install a retail version of Windows, check the support website. Check the wireless card's manufacturer and contact that manufacturer so they can give you the driver for the wireless card.
If you install a retail version of Windows, installing the driver from the support website might not work.
If you used the recovery disc that came with the computer, it should work.

My computer no longer has the wireless info in it

Okay - right click on the "PCI Modem" and select "Update Driver" - and reinstall the Wireless Driver. If that doesn't work, use the Windows Restore function to roll the system back to the last time the wireless worked. If that doesn't fix it, then the wireless function has probably died. You'll need to get a wireless network PCMCIA card for your laptop and use that to connect.

My hp laptop cannot detect network after it was formatted.

you will need to find out what wireless network card you have installed ( make and model ) and then go to the manufacturers website and download the relevant windows vista driver which will need installing or install the drivers from the installation disc for your laptop.

Wireless enable problem

Check under Device Manager first. That's under Network Adapters. If you see a thing called Network Controller under Other devices, the driver for your wireless card has not been installed. Simply reinstall it by right-click > Update Driver. But if you see your wireless card there with yellow caution sign, the driver needs to be reinstalled. With red X, that mean its disabled, right-click it and Enable. If no wireless card under device manager, your built-in wireless card is busted, you need to buy a separate notebook adapter. Good Luck!

Wireless card not working on my toshiba satellite a135 s4656

Is this external or internal?
A driver reinstall is a good idea. Is windows managing the device? If not switch off the other software and check that windows starts managing it.

Is the device installed at all? Check by going (using XP) click: Start> Control Panel> System> Hardware> Device manager To do so using XP click: Start> Control Panel> System> Hardware> Device manager, and find your wireless card usually under network connections.

You can get a new (likely to be faster and longer range) card on ebay for £6. might save you the worries. I did the same recently.

Hope this helps Tom,

Wireless Problems!

The computer looks for the cable because wireless is not working.

If wireless card is usb try removing laptop battery, unplugging power adapter and wifi cards, connect in five minutes and see if it works

If it still does not work, reinstall wireless card drivers.
If you have a disk reinstall them from disk.
If you lost the disk download drivers from the Internet, post model on fixya to get the link.

If the wireless card does not work after reinstalling drivers then it is probably faulty.

Note: if you use laptop internal wireless, usually you need to activate a switch to get it working.

Wireless internet hook up

This is generally a driver glitch. Uninstall the wireless drivers from the device manager, then reboot. The machine will find the wireless card and reinstall the drivers automatically. This should fix it, if not, let me know.

Dell inspiron laptop doesn't recognize wireless adapter after Windows reinstall

If you are able to, simply
1. Go online via the ethernet plug in port at a friend's place, or if you flash a smile and ask nicely at a place with wi-fi, they will have a hardline plugin as well. This is my first suggestion.
2. You can use a jump drive and go to (my computer is a dell) dell's website and check their drivers page, you can simply search it on their main page along with their support page. Then just look for the appropriate wireless drivers, and save them onto your jump drive, then run them on your computer and bada-bing bada-boom! you should be up and going, I ran into this everytime I reinstalled my OS on my laptop and my desktop :P sux that it isn't more automatic, but if you keep the drivers on a disk or your jump drive you can use them again.

good luck!
