Most (if not all) dishwasher have a food grinder in them just like a "garbage disposal" in your sink. (It's NOT really meat to be a garbage disposal)
In any case if the ground food is ending up back in the washer it means its not being flushed out when the washer empties.
You will need to remove the bottom rack and the bottom spinner. Open the pump and clear any debris The round tank tat the lower arm sits on should also be cleaned out. If the washer is over 5 yrs old consider replacing the impeller and all the pump hardware also.
Without specific Make and Model I cannot give you detailed instructions or parts #s. When asking about things like this alway have the make and model # Good luck
Buy Diswhasher Magic or TANG Orange Juice Powder. Empty out the dishwasher. Add a cup of TANG to bottom and run through a complete cycle. If you use D/W Magic, follow the directions on the box.
The citrus in the Magic or the TANG eats up all the grime and grease from the dishwasher and cleans out the spray arms and all the water flow parts on your unit that has collected over time.
Afterwards, you should have sparkling clean dishes free of grit and grime on your CLEAN dishes.

Dishwasher Spray Arms not Spinning
The following suggestions will greatly enhance the ability of your dishwasher to clean all of the dishes thoroughly:
1. Rinse all of the food off of the dishes before you put them in the dishwasher.
2. Run the hot water into the sink until it is as hot as it gets before you start the dishwasher.
3. Do not pack the dishes into the dishwasher, just put in a reasonable number without crowding or stacking them on either shelf.
4. Pull the top shelf all the way out to be sure that the water connection at the rear of the top shelf is connected. Sometimes, this connector comes disconnected preventing the water from entering the top spray assembly.
THese things should make a huge difference.
Good luck with this and please rate my answer. Thanks. Joe
Our Bosch does a pretty good job of washing dishes. But we rinse most of the time. Not a hard rinse, but a rinse.
Are both spray bars rotating? You can test by seeing that the bars rotate easily by hand, and also by starting a cycle and opening the door real quick when you hear the spray hit the door.
Make sure the spray bar nozzles are all clear.
Has it ever done a good job of cleaning dishes?
DI you leave a heavy build-up of food on the dishes, and allow it to dry before washing?
The rinse agent is a separate product. I use CascadeCrystal Clear in a 16 ounce bottle. In your machine (if it's anything like mine) there should be what looks like a screw cap next to the soap dispenser. Unscrew that and pour in the product.I was told by the appliance store where I bought my machine that you have to use this in stainless steel washers. Also I would try a liquid type soap. I use Cascade with shine shield. I think from past experience that the pellets aren't very good especially if you have hard water.
Your question is: Your Bosch dishwasher is 6 months old and is starting to leave food on items in the top drawer. It also sometimes leaves a grainy residual in the cups and glasses. You have put through a dishwasher cleaning solution, but find it isn't doing anything to resolve the problem?
You're still under warranty. The best advice is to use it. If it is not fixed the first time out, demand a new one from where you bought it. Sometimes they drag this out till the warranty runs out, then where will we be.

Most cleaning problems are caused by the dishwasher not getting enough water.
It could be cause of the switch level, which control water level in the tub.
The switch level is usually a diaphragm device with a small clear tube attached between the switch and the bottom of the washer's outer tub. I am not familiar with your machine, but if you will open the rear panel you will find it easily.
Be aware you should discoonect the power cable !!!
Clear the tube (attached between the switch and the bottom of the washer's outer tub) from any obstruction. In case it will not solve the problem, you should replace the switch.
Good luck !
