Forget the battery holder!
Take 6 rechargeable batteries, solder them for 9 volts-use the old battery holder for the pattern. U might have to be a little creative-either solder a "tang" to the positive and negative terminals, and or pull out the spring contact from the radio.
The battery holder lists for $10.95 +S/H, U can buy 6 rechargeable batts cheaper, and be enviromentally friendly-save money!

I suggest NOT charging any batteries in any scanner- it gets too warm. Charge your batteries in a stand-alone battery charger is my suggestion. okay?

First suggestion: never recharge batteries inside of a $400 scanner. Always charge them in a separate battery charger. Second, you can find those battery holders on e Bay and you could even try QRZ.com as a source. Okay?

Have a pro 2020 realistic programmable scanner. got working bu after turning off, turning back on will not scan. just shows - - - - - - - - . on screen
The memory on the unit is not retaining the frequencies. Check for a small battery on the circuit board like a button battery you would find on your computer motherboard. Replace the battery and reprogram the unit.

The battery pack for your scanner, Radio Shack item 23-288, is out of production and I could not any source that still carries it. You can, however, power the scanner using six size AA batteries. The black battery holder that came with the scanner is for standard, non-rechargeable, alkaline batteries. The yellow battery holder is for rechargeable NiCd or NiMH batteries. If you don't have the AA holders you should still be able to pick them up from Radio Shack.

I am missing the battery holder, the holder holds 2 AA batteries and when it is snapped onto the radio body it connects up with the two batteries already there. I have lost the holder
The Shack can order you the battery holder and have it shipped to the store to save you the postage.
