Make sure there is no corrosion on the COP Spring there is also a chance that something fell in the well of the plug causing it to missfire. Youll need a good flashlite to see down in there , a strong shop vac works good to pull it out. Also they have conductive paste that comes with the Cop Coils U may want to try that. I have a F150 and have gone through 6 0ut of the 8 coils they start failing with an intermittent missfire before registering a service engine Lite.
Good Luck
No loose connections? You can disconnect the battery for about 10 minutes to completely reset the computer and see if the light comes back on. If not, you're most likely good to go.
Not too sure. One trick you can do is switch the COP with another cylinder and see if it fixes the problem. Have done that on an '01 F150 and it fixed the rough driving and turned the CEL off. Haven't had a problem since. You can also buy some CRC Electrical Connection Cleaner and spray the connections according to the directions on the can.
Safest bet is to always unhook the battery, although I have never had a problem with it. If the light is still on, has a code popped up yet?
I've never ever heard you have to replace a plug once it is removed. Breaking the carbon is a good thing because all of that carbon buildup is what causes the plugs to break off in the cylinder heads. That is the problem! It is a known problem and Ford will (try) to not cover it under warranty, unless you manage to complain up a storm. You can try it yourself. If one breaks, you're off to the dealership. If the dealership is working on it and breaks one, they will expect you to pay for it. I have seen repair bills in the thousands for this problem. If one breaks, immediately start complaining. They know about the problem and admitted it, so that is a start I guess. It would ultimately come down to how you are able to deal with the dealership about the problem if it arises.
Good luck!

connections are good and tight , coil is good, plug is good, diagnostics said that it is dead what to do, it was running great!
i didn't unhook the barrary bf i unhooked the coil to remove it will that hurt it? is there a fuse or relay that got to that individual coil that may be bad?
took truck to the dealership they had a hard time finding the problem but they said that the spark plug i took out was bad, they said that if you take it out you have to replace it bc breaking the carbon will cause it to missfire or cause the cylinder to be dead they replaced the plug and truck ran great thanks all for helpful info. another question; it costed me 208$ to have one plug changed i was wondering if i could change the other seven myself, dealership said that ford has a problem iwith plugs breaking in the head has anyone had this problem or is the dealership wanting to make more money off me ?
