I think ul is unbalanced load, not unlocked lid.

Hi wink1447. I am sorry to learn about the code on your washer. Try to turn off the washer, set to a spin cycle trying to remove the excess water, and try the cycle again. This can help to reset the sensors to remove the UL code. I hope these suggestions prove helpful. Sincerely, Melanie, Maytag Social Media Representative.

Whirlpool cabrio washer doesn't start, Can I fix this by myself?

If you replaced the lid lock then you know how to get the top of the cabinet up lift the top up there should be a technical sheet in a plastic packet on the front panel it will tell you how to run a diagnostic if not there turn machine off press and hold any button except power/cancel for 3 seconds release 3 seconds repeat until 88 appears after that any fault codes should appear I have only had to replace a control twice on these units I am curious to see if you get an F50 or F51 code this is the most common when this machine first starts the lid should lock a short rotation of the basket lid unlocks then locks a short fill then rotation of the basket let me know what you find could be the control but I would like to eliminate the rotor and RPS sensor

What is hd code????

Hi Peter, If I understand your question correctly, you are asking what the code "HD" means for your machine. I am unable to find the code "HD", however, here is a list of the codes for these Maytag models, perhaps one looks similar to "HD". Hopefully this answers your question!

Washer displaying code messages
- "LF" (Washer is taking too long to fill)
Check the following:
Are the water inlet hoses kinked or clogged?
Are the water inlet valve screens clear?
Press PAUSE/CANCEL to clear display.
- "Ld" (Washer is taking too long to drain water from the wash tub)
Check the following:
Is the drain hose kinked or clogged?
Is the drain hose installed properly? See "Connect the Drain Hose." Press PAUSE/CANCEL
to clear display.
- "uL" (Unbalanced Load)
If the load is unbalanced, the washer will display this code while running an imbalanced
load correction routine at the end of the wash cycle and before the final spin. If the code
remains and the wash cycle dial is flashing after the recovery routine has stopped, open
lid and redistribute the load. Close lid and press START.
- "oL" (Over Load)
Is the washer overloaded? The washer has attempted to fill and begin the wash cycle. If
the washer is overloaded, it will drain any water and detergent that was added during the
fill. To correct the overload, remove several items and add detergent. Close lid and press
START.
- "Sd" (Suds Detected)
Did you use regular detergent?
Regular or hand-washing detergents are not recommended for this washer. Use only High
Efficiency ("HE") detergent.
Did you add too much detergent?
Always measure detergent. Follow detergent manufacturer's directions.
If excessive suds are detected, the washer will display this code while running a suds
reduction correction routine at the end of the wash cycle. The suds reduction routine
removes extra suds and assures proper rinsing of your garments. If the code remains and
the wash cycle dial is flashing after the recovery routine has stopped, re-select your
desired cycle using cold water. Press START. Do not add detergent.
- "lid" (Lid Opened)
Is the lid open? Close the lid to clear the display. If the lid remains open for more than 10
minutes, water in the wash tub will drain.
- "HC" (Cold and Hot hoses switched)
This code will appear at the end of the wash cycle to indicate that the cold and hot water
inlet hoses are switched. See "Connect the Inlet Hoses."
- "dL" (Door/Lid cannot lock)
Indicates lid is not locked. Check for items caught in the lid keeping it from closing. Press
PAUSE/CANCEL once to clear the code.
- "dU" (Door/Lid cannot unlock)
Is there excessive weight on the lid, such as a basket of laundry? Excessive weight will
keep the lid from unlocking. Press PAUSE/CANCEL once to clear the code.
- "F##" code
Press PAUSE/CANCEL once to clear code. Press START. If code appears again, call for
service.

Wtw6600 washer has UL code and has trouble agitating and spinning.

The UL code means Unbalanced Load. Open the lid and move your clothes around so they are distributed evenly. Your spin cycle will then work normally.

What does code F mean

F is part of a system fault code. There should be additional characters (numbers) in addition to the F.

Here's what I get from a Cabrio Owner's Manual if there are numbers after the F:

F## code (F-type error code) appears in display

System error code. Press START/PAUSE once to clear the code. Then press START/PAUSE again to restart washer. If code appears again, call for service.

I called Whirlpool at 1-800-442-1111, and according to customer support the manufacturer intentionally no longer provides descriptions for F codes (though there are still a few owners manuals that will describe something like F21 = Long Drain). Check to see if your owner's manual provides any F code help in the troubleshooting section.

Generally, what I was told is that F codes indicate customers need help from a technician. Not always completely true, and really not very helpful--especially if you want to attempt to avoid scheduling service.

Since there are numerous F## codes, please provide the specific code number if you desire further assistance.
----
Here are letter codes Whirlpool provided in the owners manual (copying from a PDF works poorly):

-

oL (overloaded)

appears in display

Load too large. If an overload is detected, the washer will drain any water and

detergent in the washer. Remove several items and add HE
detergent. Close lid and press START/PAUSE.
-

uL (unbalanced load)

appears in display

Load not balanced. The washer is

running a load-balance correction

routine.

Allow the machine to continue. If the dial is flashing and the

machine has stopped, redistribute the load, close the lid, and
press START/PAUSE.
-

LF (too long to fill)

appears in display

Washer taking too long to fill.

Drain extends more than

4.5" (114 mm) into standpipe.

Check plumbing for correct drain hose installation. Use drain

hose form and attach securely to drainpipe or tub. Do not tape
over drain opening. See "Installation Instructions".
-

Ld (too long to drain

water ) appears in

display

Washer taking too long to drain

water. Drain extends more than

4.5" (114 mm) into standpipe.

Check plumbing for correct drain hose installation. Use drain

hose form and attach securely to drainpipe or tub. Do not tape

Lower drain hose if the end is higher than 96" (2.4 m) above

the floor. Remove any clogs from drain hose. See "Installation

My Kenmore Elite Oasis HE model number: 110.27072603 washing machine shows LID error code. It wont work at all.... went half way through cycle... help.

Greetings,
this washer has a lid switch problem...or possible main board failure, but lid does concentrate on the lid safety switch. If you remember when you open the lid it stops..well, its a safety feature and prevents tub from spinning with lid open...this one is more difficult to service if your not use to working on washers...try unplugging machine and leaving off for awhile...does the door lock? check switch for lid fault

Ul code about 10 to 15 seconds into spin cycle machine is level code comes up even if i run it empty

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. UL is displayed when the machine/motor control detects an off-balance load, and is steady on while the washer runs a mini-cycle to rebalance the load.
• Display clears if mini-cycle successfully rebalanced the load.
• If the mini-cycle is unsuccessful, uL will flash until the door lid is opened, allowing the customer to view and redistribute the load. Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

Im getting a uL message on my spin cycle and I dont know why.

The "uL" message stands for "unbalanced load." Open the lid to the washer and redistribute the load if the "uL" display appears on the appliance.Redistributing the load should correct any imbalances in the washer and allow the washer to turn freely. Close the lid and press "Start" to restart the washer.

My Whirlpool Cabrio top load washer won't start now but it first started by giving LD code when would wash only heavy items like full load of towels or bedding (all others ok). If I let it sit for awhile...

we ran into this problem with ours too. I swear, this washing machine is the biggest piece of junk I've ever bought.

We used to get the LD code at the beginning of each load of wash. We solved this by manually holding the lid down tight until the lock mechanism clicked in place. Once locked, it should stay that way for the duration of the wash cycle.

One day, it just stopped giving us locking problems.

Every load i put in small loads my machine stops with a UL error code

I’ll try to help I’m an owner like you.
From the FAV6800AW/FAV9800AW Service Manual;
UL = Latch Unlocked: Close lid tightly to enable locking.
That’s real helpful…. right?
Not sure how wash load size would cause the UL error to the display. From your post I believe you can’t complete a wash cycle at all is that correct?
Do the Lid Lock Latch’s look like they are projecting into the left and right side of the closed lid when you press the start button? If so you could try reseating the Left and Right Lid Lock Plugs a few times. There could be some corrosion issues preventing the Lid Lock signaling back to the Control Board. Those Lid Lock plugs can be difficult to unseat for the first time. The Left Lid Lock does suffer from corrosion issues with its proximity to the bleach dispenser. See page 34 of the SM. For the location of the Lid Lock The SM will show you how to rase the washer top from the base to access the Lid Locks.
Long response;
This may only help if you or someone you know has basic mechanical skills, you know how to use a Digital Volt Meter and you are a diehard DIY’er. A schematic diagram of the washer should be in the console of your machine.
From looking at the schematic and Service Manual “You can download the SM from that link” the lid is locked signaling is coming from the lid locks. I believe you are losing the Lid Is Locked signaling from the lid locks or a common wiring point in the machines wiring harness going back to the Control Board on connector P3-8. The issue is where, why and how to correct for that loss of signaling.
It looks like the Control Board wants to see +12VDC at connector P3-8 “Lid Lock Input” for the proper Lid Lock status signaling that the Lid Is Locked. I would take my DVM and trace for what I believe is the loss of signaling back to the Control Board input from the Left & Right Lid Locks. What is the possibility that both Lid Locks have failed with that status? I believe not much, from looking at the schematic it looks like the status inputs +12VDC and outputs from those Lid Locks run in parallel into the machines wiring harness to a common point in the washer wiring harness then to the Lid Is Locked input of the Control Board Connector P3-8.
The question for you is how deep do you want to get into troubleshooting if at all and how long can you tolerate the washer down time?
I’m a technical owner and I would dive right in for this repair. I also have spare parts. Depending on your skill sets and if you have a DVM you have to decide how to proceed. I hope a forum member with more hands on knowledge then I will chime in with their solution on troubleshooting this issue. I don’t simply what to say call in Repair Service without having a feel for your desire and skill sets to troubleshoot the issue.
If you call in a repair service run my response by them. I believe just changing out the lid locks or the control board will not solve the issue but I could be out in left field with my thoughts. I don’t recommend you do this….. but I would try to clear the UL error by taking an alligator clip lead and jumpering Pin P3-8 “Lid Lock Input” and Pin P3-3 or 4 +12VDC Out of the Control Board and see if this clears the UL error. If the error cleared that would rule out a Control Board issue. Rich

UL Code

Solved the unbalanced problem - open the top of the machine (press in with a flat putty knife about 3" in on the front on each side while lifting up as there are 2- 1" wide catches). Once both sides are unlatched, raise the lid then slightly lift the rear of the lid so that it fits into the curved part at the top of the hinges then open all the way - tape the lid to the top so it doesn't flap about and scotch the lid to keep it from falling back down on you. Now, look around - see all that rust?  The rust has fallen into and gotten underneath one or more of the 4 white plastic suspension "ball joints" which have probably totally dried out by now from their factory grease because of the water, bleach, and rust particles.  Having someone help you, simply lift up on one of the 4 corner suspension rods - gravity and weight is all that holds them down. The white ball will lift out of the socket and still be attached to the rod. Clean out the rust, lightly sand the "socket" with emery cloth, then slop in a fingerful of grease. I used automotive wheel bearing grease with graphite in it. Also scrub off all embedded rust on the white plastic ball. Lower that corner back into the newly cleaned and greased socket and repeat for the other 3 corners. Now when you move the tub around notice how the balls pivot in their sockets like they are supposed to. When they were dry and rusty they wouldn't move enough to allow the tub to twist like it should so it slammed around.  Now, shake your head in disgust that after only 2 years there is so much rust that you wonder if it will make it another year before falling apart, close the lid, and try another load.  That totally solved my off-balance problem where even a single handkerchief would give the UL error. It is still a finicky machine, but at least once again works like it did when new.
