Hi, my computer recognizes the camera but only as a blank disc, i cant read or extract any files from the recorded dvd. do you think the solution is the same to unistall the universal serial bus controllers? and if so, do i have to unistall all of them i(i have 7)? will my usb ports work again? windows will ask me to reinstall them again by it self or i have to do something to reinstall them?
thank you so much!! sorry for all the questions but i dont want to mess up :/

There is definitely a solution for this but you must use a computer to recover the information on that disc. It also depends on the software you are using to recover such information from the disc. My recommendation would be that you start by simply inserting your disc in the DVD Rom on the computer see what happens when you open My Computer on the Desktop then you click on the DVD rom icon to see if the DVD opens. If it opens it means the information on the disc can be read. so you click again on the folder that appears. If you have a media player installed then that media player will play back those video files. These files can then be transferred to the computer then authored by a computer software like Nero. There are many other programs that can do this job. Also such software can open sometimes such a disc if and when the windows operating system's My computer fails to open it.
Hi, There is no need to hook camcorder with computer through USB, all is required to Finalize recorded DVD in camcorder and put that disc in computer to copy files for further editing etc. Finalized disc in camcorder will be recognized in any other dvd player or dvd-rom. Finalize disc option is available in camcorder menu. Thanks.
i fu are able to play this dvd on camera then just take output to some recorder vcr or dvd recorder and rescue ur video , these dvd cams are giving much problem these days , u will see thousands of Queries like ur problem this Sony brand uses Monopolistic tactics to increase sales and they dont provide compatibiity with other brand of dvd discs and it also does the same with theier own DVd media as well so i would suggest next time u but a camera buy HDD not DVDRW , for now u can try using the proprietory owned Sony media for the reiable operation and pls also try DVD lens cleaner to clean th lens may be dust and dirt is there which affects the writing operation of ur camera
Nice camera you can record directly to the 3.5 inch mini dvd's available virtually anywhere including walmart and Fred Meyer, those mini dvd's are playable on your computer and you can copy the files on them to your computer by placing them in your computer cd/dvd drive right clicking on them hitting explore highlighting the files you want to copy right click on them hit copy open the file you want to put them in and right click in that file and hit paste. You don't need cables, just put the disc in your computer. Be sure to read in the manual how to close the disc before you take it out of your camera or your computer won't recognize it.
i have recored the sveral movie on the DVD-R disc using Panasonic VDR-D160 and then i take the DVD-R disc with me to leave for another country (the Panasonic VDR-D160 left at home) and now i can not read the moviesrecored on the DVD-R disc !!! Why this should be ? The computer view the empty disc although it contains several movies when i checked it from Panasonic VDR-D160 camera when i was at home ! How can i do now to read the movies from the disc ? Thanks a lot !
You don't need specialist software to take video from DVD to computer.
One of two things has gone wrong 1. Your PC cannot read the -R DVD format, or, more likely 2. You have not finalised the disk.
You must finalise the disk in the camcorder before putting it in the PC. To finalise the disk you must have the power adapter connected to the camera, plugged into a wall socket and turned on. Then go to the main menu, select 'disk operations' and you'll see an option to finalise disk. Don't move or shake the camera whilst the finalising step is underway.
Once finalising is complete, put the disk into the PC.
I had this same issue...I bet you're using DVD-R, am I correct?
Apparently you can't copy video from DVD-R to the HD Writer. Period. Just can't do it. (Would be nice if they mentioned this in the manual.)
You can only use DVD-RW and must format the disc to VR format, not Video format.
I'm using a program called Handbrake (free) which I think can convert your .vob files (from the Video_TS folder on your DVD) to quicktime files, or similar, so that you can actually do something with the video...
Best of luck, I'm really no expert, and I probably won't return to this page, so a reply to me is likely not going to be read by me...
