Well, what's on Video 1 and is IT okay?

You don't say if you're using the analog audio associated with Vid 1 or if you have digital audio coming in and assigned to Vid 1. Check the cables. If using the optical, make sure it has no small-radius bends.

If analog audio, try another input - video 2 or 3.

If you have Cable/SAT TV as the source, what's going on with ITS audio settings?

You can always run that RCA cable pair from the source to theTV as a test for audio, too.

I'm not aware of Onkyo having made a receiver model TX-DS565. Perhaps there's a typo in your message? Did you instead mean Onkyo model TX-DS595? Google search and Remotes.com has listings for the remote for TX-DS595.

Hi, I own an Onkyo TX-DS595 amplifier and use it for several setups: Playstation, DVD and TV. I'm using the optical output from both my DVD-Player and my Playstation and I recently noticed, that there's...

So they swap between left and right? Maybe there is a short in the speaker wire. Also, there may be a short in the optical plug. Try using the analog RCA and see if it happens there. It may just be the optical plug. Try cleaning the tip with lense paper. You want this because as you may know optical means light, and optical plugs use light to command the stereo to play instead of electricity. So if the tip is dirty, it may be not getting all the signals.

No HDMI Output

My configuration:
ZONE 1 (living room)
DishNetwork Dual Tuner DVR Tuner 1 [S-Video out] -> [S-Video in] ONKYO TX-SR875 [HDMI out] -> [HDMI in] Sony KDS-60A3000 rear projection TV

ZONE 2 (living room)
DishNetwork Dual Tuner DVR Tuner 2 [Composite Video out] -> [Composite Video in] ONKYO TX-SR875 [Composite Video out] -> [Composite Video in] Samsung AQUOS LCD TV

Problem:
ONKYO receiver stops sending video signal to my ZONE 1 Sony TV through the HDMI connection. ZONE 2 may still receive video. (NOTE: the issue might be related to the upconverter circuitry?)

Symptom:
I couldn't see any video, but I could hear the Tuner 1 audio through my ONKYO. An important clue is that I couldn't see ONKYO's on-screen display menu on my TV when hitting the [Setup] button on my remote. But, I could see my TV's Sony-based menus and display options.

Solution:
1. Put all ZONES in Standby mode using the remote. Hit these buttons on remote: [Receiver], then [Standby]. [Receiver], [ZONE2], then [Standby], [Receiver], [ZONE3], then [Standby]. You should NOT see any lights on the ONKYO except maybe one red led near the power button.
2. Pull the power plug out of the back of the ONKYO, and leave unplugged for 20-30 seconds. Turning off any power center it is connected to isn't enough. You MUST unplug the power from the back of the ONKYO for 20-30 seconds.
3. Reconnect the power cord to the ONKYO.
4. Using the remote, set ZONE1 to a video source known to be working. If you don't see video, try leaving the power cord off for a longer period.

I know it sounds too simple to work, but that's what brought the video back for me the few times the video stopped displaying. Hope it works for you.

Onkyo TX-DS595 with no display?

Ran my 595 blind for 2 years and finally spent the time to diagnose it this year. Turns out that one of the resistors that is on the power supply went bad. Similar problems have happened with later models so i thought the same may be true for the DS595.

My Receiver has always run fine.. just no display anymore.

Here's the fix. Replace R9501. its on the larger board that is part of the Power Supply. You will have to take the 4 large screws out of the base of the big heavy power supply block to find the resistor. I believe the old resistors is a 1/4 Watt. I replaced it with a 1 Watt so that it can handle the heat of being turned on and off better.

The resistor you will need to buy is 2.0 Ohm. I wouldn't go anything less than a 1/2 Watt and preferably 1 Watt.

My receiver works line new now!
