The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

Fujifilm s4000 dpi

Dots per inch is an output specification and is meaningless to a camera. If you take a picture and make both a 4x6 print and an 8x10 print from it, you'll have two prints of exactly the same picture but with completely different DPI numbers. The camera inserts a value into this field simply because one is required. If you want to change it, you can do it at the time of printing using the photo-printing program.

Date stamp on/off on fujifilm f 550

The F550 won't deface your pictures by scrawling a series of numbers across them. However, the date and time (and a lot more) are stored with every image in what's known as the EXIF data. Any photo cataloger/viewer can show you this data. In addition, most photo printing programs will give you the option of printing the date and/or time, either on the image, in the margins, or on the back, depending on the printer.

Geting date and downloading onto prints

Just a quick note on what happens with my Olympus- apparantly, the only way to get dates onto photos is through print software. So far, I've found no option to put them on the disk files, and pretty much read the whole manual. You might try to print through PictBridge, and look for an option for adding the date and time. Good luck!
