My typewriter prints the bottom half of the letter. Do I need a new wheel or a defective ribbon. This started when I changed the ribbon.


Most likely the ribbon isn't in right. Go to NADIST.COM click on current models you will find a manual there.

Removed old ribbon cartridge. Unable to install new one. I snap it in place but it is not working. No print. Can you send a diagram of how it is supposed to be installed. I have a model AE-710. Thank you


First thing remove the ribbon turn the hand feed knob and see if the ribbonmoves if not you have a bad ribbon. The ribbon has 2 little feet thar hook on the ribbon deck and then it snaps down and latches into place. Go to NADIST.COM, Click on current models you will find a manual there.

Nakajima ae-710 does not give a clear print. I suspect the striker pin. How do I lubricate it?


You should not have to lubricate the "striker"....type some characters then remove the ribbon cassette and see if the characters are spaced properly or are typing on top of each other on the carbon ribbon. You may have put the machine into a "multi-strike" mode....you can get a manual at www.nadist.com

Nakajima AE 800 will not underline words with new ribbon


Check to be sure the ribbon is fully down and latched, also be sure the L/O tape is not sitting to high and stealing the underscore.

hitting "code + /" puts ribbon drive mode into multi-strike ribbon mode, to correct this hit "code + ."

First see if the ribbon is spacing a full space for each letter pressed if not you may be in the over strike ribbon mode, to get out of the mode press code and comma, period or slash i'm not sure which one So try them all.
If that dosen't help check to be sure the correction tape is not getting in the way, remove the corr. tape and try it.
Next remove the ribbon and release the hammer as if you were changing the P/W and see if the plunger in the solenoid is free, if not try a drop or two of WD40 on it.

Your printer is not correctly configured for ribbon. Download the manual located at ftp://www.servisource1.com/user_documentation/9855/9855oh-ae.pdf

Go to chapter 4-1 to see the map of the menu system and change your printer to ribbon yes.

Make sure that your printer is loaded with supplies and the ribbon is set up correctly, as well as slack taken out.

You may see a couple of labels not print well, but after that, you shold have proper tension and good print. If you notice a lot of ribbon wrinkle, you probably need to reload your ribbon or adjust the tension bars.

This should resolve any issue you have with the ribbon.
