I have a 1993 yellowstone camper with a coleman wall thermostat. on the bottom of it- it has a heat/cool switch on one side and the other side has a low-high-fan switch. when we run it on low or high it gets cool but the fan never shuts off.if we put it on fan it shuts off with the compressor but it doesn't blow cool air. any advise?

Thank you so very much for your answer! I'm glad I came to this website before I began a new project. I was about to re-wire my unit based on my ex-husbands advice!!!!

These unit are set up for continuous fan operation when turned on. It does not have an automatic position on your thermostat such as in your house. Set the fan speed to what you are comfortable with and let the thermostat control the temperature.

if it is a programmable thermostat you can unhook thermostat and when it comes on select 3 instead of 1. As it sounds as though it is short cycling this happens in older houses with drafts. Hope this helps Tim

COLEMAN MACH 3 MOUNTING ON INSIDE OF CAMPER NOT ALIGNING WITH MY

Did you purchase a new Ducted Ceiling Unit with the Upper Unit air conditioner? If you are replacing an older mach 3, the ducted ceiling packs are not compatible and you will need to purchase the ceiling pack as well. The ducted ceiling pack part number for the 8333 series Mach III AC is below.

1. Heat/Cool Air Distribution Box - 8330B735
2. Cool only ADB - 8330A733
3. Wall Thermostat (if needed) - 7330G3351

Hope this helps.

One day my RV Coleman ac just quit running on low cool but every other setting works fine. Any ideas?

Is your Air Conditioner run with a wall mounted thermostat or the ceiling pack controls? If it is the ceiling pack controls, then your selector switch has gone bad and needs to be replaced. This is located in the ceiling pack itself and is relatively easy to do. You can easily test it with an Ohmmeter, going through these steps:

To check the selector switch, remove wires from the terminals
and rotate the switch to the proper position and read
continuity as follows:
Terminals Switch Position
L-1-3 Lo Heat
L-1 Lo Fan
L-2 Hi Fan
L-1-4 Lo Cool
L-2-4 Hi Cool
* If you do not wish to remove the wires from each terminal,
disconnect the 9 pin plug from the a/c unit.

Hope this helps,

Jeff

You should be able to turn the fan motor freely by hand. If there is any resistance or the noise turning it by hand, then the fan motor is definitely bad. Is it a wall thermostat unit or manual controls? Wall thermostat, you can use a jumper wire from the 12+ terminal of the thermostat to the HG terminal and the fan should come on, if not, then the motor is bad.

The distance of the cord is a big deal, 10AWG Cord would be best for this situation. If you have a 50ft cord, make sure that the cord is not wound up on top itself as this can cause a drop in voltage and a spike in amperage. Is the compressor trying to come on at all? If not, then you may have a problem with the selector switch or the thermostat. If the compressor is humming for a few seconds and then stopping and then trying to come on again, it could be a problem with voltage loss. Anything below 98.5 plus or minus 10% is too low the for the compressor to kick on.
