Laptops that have pre-installed Microsoft Office in it usually have 60-day trial version or Microsoft Office starter. The trial version may be a Home edition and has the full features but will ask for a product key after the trial period expires. The MS Office Starter only has limited features for MS Word and Excel only, but this is not a trial version.
If you want to continue using the trial MS Office or want the full functionality of MS Word and MS Excel plus MS powerpoint etc, you need to follow the steps provided to activate or purchase a product key from the application itself. You need to purchase the product key from Microsoft since this program is unfortunately not free.
did you purchase a product key for these items when you bought the laptop
these things come installed with new laptops
but i believe one normally has to purchase the product keys separately in order to activate them unless you were lucky enough to of been given the keys
on a special deal
The 25 character product key is the licence key to activate MS Office so that you can utilize all the features of Ms Office. It is the one you are paying for. If in case the installation disc is damaged or lost, that would be fine if you saved teh copy of the product key on a safe place. You can log on to Microsoft to get more inforation on how to get a valid product key.
Thank you for using Fixya. You high recommendatino is higly appreciated.
When you install MS Office, it is a single user license. If you install it on more than one computer you are violating the license agreement this message will appear.
If you have re-installed MS Office on this computer because the hard disk was wiped or on a new replacement hard disk, when you activate MS Office do not activate via the Internet but activate it by phone, and tell the operator that the hard disk was wiped and that MS Ofice was re-installed on the same computer.
