My CD drive doesn't work

Your display adapter is the component of your computer that allows your monitor to work. On the operating system side of things, this display adapter is controlled by a device driver. If you're having issues with your display adapter (like colors are displaying incorrectly or the screen is flickering), you can fix these problems by rolling back your device driver using the Windows Device Manager.

Open your Control Panel by clicking "Start" and then "Control Panel." Click "System." Click "Device Manager." Scroll down to the "Display Adapter" heading. On a single monitor setup, there will only be one device listed under "Display" adapter. Right-click it and click "Properties." Click the "Driver" tab. Click the "Roll Back Driver" button. This will uninstall your current display adapter driver and reinstall the last version that worked properly. This will fix the issues you were having with the device. Hope this helps

The network adapters dont even show up in the device manager, where can i download the drivers?

  1. If the network adapter isn't showing up in the Device Manager, even as an Unknown Device, then the Network adapter may be faulty.
  2. Try removing the Network adapter, restart the computer, then shut down the computer after the restart.
  3. Now reinstall the adapter with the computer off.
  4. Once the Network card is reinstalled, turn the computer on. Check the Device Manager for your Network Adapter.
  5. The computer should detect the card and ask you for drivers. If it doesn't, that means it either automatically found the drivers and installed them, or your network adapter has died.

Need help getting the VGA to work on my Gateway lt2016u netbook. I have all the proper cables hooked up from the netbook to my flatscreen. I think it has to do with settings or a missing adapter. Any...

Try toggling the video selection by pressing the Fn key and the appropriate F-row key. You may have to attempt this a couple times until you see the monitor flash.

If this does not work, right click My Computer and select Manage. In the left pane, click on the Device Manager. The right pane will populate with devices. If there are any unknown devices listed in the right pane, try initiating a hardware scan by right clicking it.

If that doesn't work, I would look at the Display Adapters. Double click the listed display adapter(s) and check on the status of the drivers. Even going so far as checking for updates. If that does not work, try Uninstalling it with a right click and rebooting. Windows will locate the driver at boot. It may not be a nice screen at first but it will get there once it has been reinstalled.

Audio device erased

You have to reinstall your audio driver. Answers to your questions: 1. You can locate it in your Device Manager. Locate and expand Sound, video and game controllers. 2. You don't have to delete legacy drivers because reinstalling your audio driver will update it. Right click your audio software the one you found in the Device Manager and update it. It will find your installation cd of your system drivers. Else, manually install the audio driver.

You need to locate and reinstall your video drivers - most likely showing up in Device Manager as VGA compatible or other device. After installing will appear as Display Adapter and allow higher resolution.

Wireless device not detected after i did a recovery

Are you saying your wireless controller on your laptop/desktop cannot be detected?

I would check in Device Manager to see if the card is displayed.

1. Right Click on "MY COMPUTER" and select "PROPERTIES"
2. Go to the "HARDWARE" tab and select "DEVICE MANAGER"
3. Scroll down to "NETWORK ADAPTERS" and expand the component
4. Do you see your wireless network adapter? If so, does it have a "RED X" on it? You might need to enable it by right-clicking on it and selecting "ENABLE". If it has no "RED X" you might need to reinstall it using the original network drivers that came with your computer.
5. If you don't see your wireless network adapter do you see a "YELLOW QUESTION MARK"? If so, expand that to see if you see an unknown device that shows it's a network adapter. If so, you need to reinstall it using the original network drivers that came with your computer.
6. If you reinstalled your network drivers and still it's not working it's possible that the wireless adapter itself is better or you have some system related problem.

This is a preliminary set of troubleshooting steps. I would need to know the results of the above procedures and some additional information. Please let me know if I can assist any further.

Network adapter not showing up in device manager

The tech was incorrect - your network adapter is just not recognized by the system. If you install the correct drivers for your particular network adapter it should be recognized, which should then solve your problem. Search the Gateway website for network drivers for your particular desktop, and if the network adapter was added (not built into the computer) then determine the manufacturer and model of your network adapter, then search the manufacturer's website for the correct drivers.

Even easier, if you still have the original disks that came with your computer and/or network adapter, they should include the correct drivers.

Hope this helps!
