Belkin says it is a universal range extender. Will it work with other brands of routers? I'm trying it with a netgear router. Belkin says all I need is the ssid and have router on channel 6,11,1 or 9. What are your thoughts? The factory setup got me connected with another netgear network outside my house.

For best results, you should connect it directly to the other router with an ethernet cable.
