Question about Vizio Gallevia GV42LF 42 in. LCD Television

Heads cut off on the screen

In watching some shows, the heads are cut off. Also, if there are subtitles on the bottom of the screen - I can't see them. However, if I select the guide and the channel I'm watching goes to a small window at the top of the page - then I can see the entire picture and the bottom of the page words - - but this is only while I have the guide up - covering the main portion of the page.
This is so annoying. When watching showtime - Ocean's Eleven last night to be exact - in certain times of the movie I could only see a portion of Brad Pitt's face - - c'mon - how awful is that.... HELP!

Are you watching with using time warner cable or an HDTV converter box? because if you are....on the bottom of your cable remote..on mine its the # button..above it says aspect...press that a couple of times and there are different zooms and stuff.

SOURCE: Heads cut off on the screen

Ocean's Eleven. Best remake movie, I think.
I believe your TV is in "ZOOM" mode for the screen. This will make a 4x3 picture come up closer to fill in the 16x9 screen, but this cuts off the top and the bottom.
Keep pressing the WIDE button on your remote until the picture looks best.
If you have HD channels, the screen mode should be on NORMAL. HD channels will have the 16x9 screen format.

The non-HD channels will have 4x3 screen format. When the screen mode is on NORMAL, you will have the cut off picture on the sides because the 4x3 format will not fill in a 16x9 screen.

TV responds to on-off, channel & volume changing buttons, but nothing else on remote. Screen is dark, but the station and show listing appear at bottom. Sound of show works, but no picture.

Check the remote control for its infrared emission. Check it with fresh batteries. Check it by pressing all the keys. You can detect the presence of infra-red emission from the remote control, using a cell-phone camera. If you wish to get more details about how to check a remote control, please visit this site. One among the posts has details about it. In some cases, the remote control might need to clean.

I asked why the heads are cut off on my tv. I was told to adjust aspect ratio on the screen menu. I cannot find aspect ratio on screen menu. HELP

It will be listed as screen option, it will be "widescreen" "panoramic" and regular broadcast image, no such button as aspect but the above are aspect options.

It just does this with the fire stick, regular TV is ok? If that is the case the fire stick is most likely defective.

The "subtitles" are closed caption (CC) displays that usually are enabled/disabled as part of the initial set up procedure.

My lg plasma tv is cutting off the edges of the shows we are watching. I cant find a setting that will take care of it. Can you help

hmm normally these settings are found in the picture settings of the set top box or just a setting in the tv's picture settings now there might be an option to say fill screen that may work best for some or leave the tv in 16:9 some broadcasts may only be in 4:3 at times this is normal broadcasting and not much can be done unless the setting on the picture option is set to fill screen

WHY DID MY VIORE SCREEN RESIZE TO SMALLER SCREEN

Screen size depends on the broadcast signals aspect ratio, the TV adjusts for that automatically, the picture can have no bands or be banded top and bottom or on both sides.

I cannot exit subtitles on digihome remote NO. 32279SMT2HDLED have used it many times before but now will not exit

It's closed captioning (CC), not subtitles. Return to the initial set up procedure and disable CC.
