Question about Vizio Gallevia GV42LF 42 in. LCD Television

Heads cut off on the screen

In watching some shows, the heads are cut off. Also, if there are subtitles on the bottom of the screen - I can't see them. However, if I select the guide and the channel I'm watching goes to a small window at the top of the page - then I can see the entire picture and the bottom of the page words - - but this is only while I have the guide up - covering the main portion of the page.
This is so annoying. When watching showtime - Ocean's Eleven last night to be exact - in certain times of the movie I could only see a portion of Brad Pitt's face - - c'mon - how awful is that.... HELP!

SOURCE: Heads cut off on the screen

Ocean's Eleven. Best remake movie, I think.
I believe your TV is in "ZOOM" mode for the screen. This will make a 4x3 picture come up closer to fill in the 16x9 screen, but this cuts off the top and the bottom.
Keep pressing the WIDE button on your remote until the picture looks best.
If you have HD channels, the screen mode should be on NORMAL. HD channels will have the 16x9 screen format.

The non-HD channels will have 4x3 screen format. When the screen mode is on NORMAL, you will have the cut off picture on the sides because the 4x3 format will not fill in a 16x9 screen.

Trying to watch a foreign film with subtitles (DVD). The subtitles are getting cut off at the bottom of the screen. TV is on full screen format (not Zoom). We tried moving the picture up the screen, but...

First, try the "Aspect Ratio" button on the remote. If none of the settings remedy the problem, try accessing the menu of the DVD player to ensure that it is set to 16:9 aspect output.

Let me know if neither of these help.

Screen cuts off top of heads

Check the menu settings for the picture. You may be expanding the image to fill the sides, in the process, cutting the top and bottom.

I called customer service, and although I had to wait a long time, I was able to talk to a representative who solved the problem for me. On my Panasonic remote, I clicked on "Format", and I discovered that I could adjust the screen using the various formats which are displayed.
