It does not look like you can do much adjustment to the tone to make it higher. The only option you have is the X-BASS.
This device does not seem to have a built in equalizer.

You don't have tone regulation on CD players, you need to connect it to an amplifier .

Yes there is control on bass and treble, it should have a menu button on the remote, then chose sound settings for bass and treble, but it is not an operation that you do at every song.
I think this unit has also presets for sound, like rock, classic jazz etc. they modify what you call the tone.
But there is no tone command like in all radios.
Refer to manual on how to modify bass and treble, if you put bass and treble up and down together is similar to what you did on old stereos using the tone control.

Can I easily transfer data ie audio files from recorded music cassettes to the CD or USB with any of Sony cd/cassette player?

Cassettes don't contain 'files' or data.

The analog audio can be recorded to a CD.

For this specific model, it's all in the manual...

I have a Sony CFD 5250 Radio Cassette-Corder. Can I play music from an I-Pod through it? I cannot find the manual. Can I access a manual online?

The answer is yes, but the ease of doing so will vary. If the unit has an auxiliary input all you will need is a 3.5 millimeter to stereo RCA plug adapter. If it does not have an aux in then it gets more complicated, but it can be done. Do a little digging on the internet for an old cassette adapter. These were used in years gone by to allow the playing of a portable CD player through a cassette deck. The adapter looks just like a cassette, but it has a wire coming off of it with a 3.5 millimeter plug on the end. It will allow you play the I-Pod through the cassette deck just like a portable CD player.

One of my technics' 1200 turntable's tone gets too high

You can try adjusting the pitch's gain, which is located on the pitch control circuit board. Only problem is that you'll have to take apart your turntable in order to get to that section (its on the bottom).

If that does not work, your pitch might be bad, or one of the main circuit drive IC's might be bad.

Hope this helps some.

Cassette player not working

Cassette players usually have a little rubber band that connects the motor to the spindles. If everything else is fine, I would suggest seeing if it slipped off somehow (or got cracked and snapped)
