How to bypass some of the features

I had this stereo installed, and different options that I was told it had were not available unless the E Brake was engaged, when I asked about it I was told for $100.00 they could bypass everything so that all the functions would work all the time. Is there any way that I can do it myself without giving them the $100.00, since they didn't mention any of that before the system was purchased and installed. Thank You.

Don't let them rip you off for $100 - all they're doing is changing the spot that they connect one harness wire into the car:)

DVD head units have one extra wire in their wiring harnesses, compared to a standard CD head unit. On mine, it's a peach-colored wire, and is the activation wire for the DVD feature. During the installation, the instructions call for this wire to be tapped into the emergency brake indicator light wire. The reason is this:

The e-brake indicator light is what is called a "ground complete" circuit. That means that the bulb always has power applied, but when you pull the brake, that puts a ground to the wire and completes the circuit, allowing it to illuminate. The head unit sees this ground, and activates the DVD player.

In my Jensen unit, I simply ran this wire to a ground (I used a screw near the fuse box), and I put a switch on the wire, so I could break the ground contact at will. Jensen calls for a procedure to activate DVD playback. In their instructions, they tell you to select DVD from the option menu, and when the "lawyer screen" comes up (the one warning you to park before you watch a movie), you release the e-brake for 3-5 seconds, and then reapply it. To simulate that with the switch I used, I leave the switch closed (activated), and select DVD. Then I flip the switch "off" for 3-5 seconds, and flip it back "on". This tricks the head unit into thinking I put the e-brake off for a few seconds and then put it back on, and the movie will start. Then I can drive away.

Basically, ground the wire that is used for DVD activation, and put a switch inline on it. Then you can break and reapply the ground in whatever manner is required by the manufacturer of your head unit. If there is no off/on sequence with yours, as there is with mine, simply ground the wire to a screw inside the dashboard and you're done.

Is there any way to bypass hooking up the e-brake wire for the vr3 Roadaster car stereo


To get passed the brake issue there should be a lose/bear end wire at the back of the head unit - just attach it some how to the metal head unit cage, this should hopefully bypass the problem

the light green wire will be the one and you connect it upto the earth then u can watch dvd's when u drive

I just bought a dual xdvd9101 indash dvd player and cant get the brake bypass to work


However, some units use different methods. Some require seeing a pulse (i.e., power-ground-power-ground-etc.), resulting in the annoying need of pushing the e-brake a few times before your video will pop up. This can generally be recreated by using a 3-prong switch (you can get one at AutoZone). Connect it backwards -- the ground to power, power to ground, and the "Load" to the Parking Brake wire on the back of the radio. Flip the switch back and forth a few times and sometimes the video will pop up.
Some fancier units cannot be cheated. They use an internal gyro mechanism that detects movement.
Some even feature bypass codes. By pressing a certain combination of buttons on the remote then entering in a code it will permanently allow video.

I bought this car that has the vm9512hd and it will not come untill i enter the un lock code i do not have it is there any way to bypass it


NO way to bypass, its a safety feature that is activated when the radio is removed to prevent anyone who takes the radio from using it. You can go to a stereo shop and they might be able to help but will be a charge to do so...

Bypass iXA-W404


The 404 requires multiple signals from two separate wires to turn off the video block. Simply grounding one wire will not work. There are bypass modules that will send these signals to the head unit available on ebay. Just search alpine 404 bypass. Your other option is to use two toggle switches to simulate the parking brake and foot brake signals necessary to disable the video block.

first off i must say this feature is put here by the companies for a reason they dont want to pay millions to the families of people hurt and so the blame gets bumped down to you. so be carefull so you dont have to spend the rest of your life paying for the damage.

when you install the deck you need to get the (pink) wire grounded. this is usually the color of the parking break check on the deck. it is looking for a ground coming from the parking break. usually this can just be bypassed by tieing into the ground on the deck.

tie the park brake wire to ground permanently. This will bypass the safety feature. You can do it right at the unit., cut the wire short, and jumper it over to ground. Installers usually won't do this as it is a liability.
