Question about D-Link DE 805TP (DE-805TP)5x10 Mbps Networking Hub

Sony Trinitron KV-27EXR25

I was watching my Sony, which had worked perfectly up to this point, when it suddenly shut off. When I attempt to turn it on, the "ON Switch" makes a noice when pressed, however there is no picture or sound. What are your recommendations for fixing this problem.

Just this week I had the same problem. If you are hearing a click responding to your pushing on the power button then it is more than likely a short that is preventing the problem. In my case it was a matter of dust.
I fixed the problem by opening up the back of the set and blowing all the dust out. There was a ton of dust accumulated on the circuit boards over the years. Once the dust was cleared I check to make sure the power fuse was not blown and it was fine. I then closed it up and it turned on without a problem.
My Sony is over fifteen years old and it still works like a charm. Its not HDTV, but it works great. When it finally goes; then I will buy a much bigger flat screen HDTV.
Good luck.

Try connecting the hub to another USB port. You may even connect this same device to another computer and check if that works. This will help isolate the issue better.

I have a Linksys 5 port workgroup hub. I have 2 computers and a printer on it and it all works well. I have a satellite connection with the modem coming into the hub. That works well too. I now have...

have you tried simply disconnecting the router from its power and data source, remove the power source from the modem, connect the router back to the modem,(with all the systems allready connected to the router), restore power to the router, then finaly restore power to the modem. after a few min the router should automatically sense multiple requests for dns and ip services and asign addressess accordingly.

If that makes no diff, watch the led light on the router that corresponds to the port that the non-functioning system is docked with. when attempting to access the internet, does the led blink? if it blinks fast and you also see that the "modem link" is flashing then there is a connection, and any lack of access to the internet has to be a firewall setting.

simply go into your router settings by typing 192.168.1.1 in your web browser and using "admin" as the username and leave the password blank(that is unless you have changed all that)
you should be able to view all the computers currently active on your network and the ip assigned to them. you may see that port 5 has been restricted, in which case the easiest way from the very beginning would have been to simply take a ball point pen and hit the reset button on the back of the router.
on the other hand, try that first then the other options above as you may save yourself lots of time and headache

GOOD LUCK!!!

I have a sony trinitron Model kv27v65 that will not turn on. The standby/timer light blinks four times. It was working fine earlier today and we don't know what caused the problem.

Internally the 4 blinks means that the vertical deflection circuitry has Stopped.
This requires repair or replacement depending on your preference.

Sorry for the bad news.

Irratic behaviour of the switch network

Well 1 can tell you that if I remember right with cisco networking the maximum number of swiches possible between two hosts in a LAN network is 7.
Try to imagine a line with 2 pc at the end points. You can put maximum 7 swiches between them or expect problems.
I suggest you to try to make a current network map if you don't have one already.
Than do some counting between points just like the way your routing protocol is managing the packets route and see how many swiches you hit.

You can read about a very similar kind of incident with brand new CISCO equipement over here.

Maybe the problem's root is something else, but what you wrote was giving me this idea first to think of.
Hope I gave you an idea.

Imre

Toubleshoot

My guess would be a networking problem where the two PCs can see all three access points and are getting confused. Perhaps getting a DHCP license from one of the other access points and then trying to use that, conflicting, IP to access the access point you want. If the PCs are fixed, you could always use three different SSIDs to prevent this from happening.

You don't mention it but you should have all three access points on different channels that are spread apart to minimize interference. Try shutting off the other two access points, right clicking on the network icon on an affected computer and selecting repair. If you can get on the network after this, then my solution will fix your problem.

You might want to consider switching to a solution designed for having multiple access points on one network. Open-Mesh is a pretty good inexpensive route and you can add multiple access points easily. The firmware is still in beta, however, I have a network of 5 nodes that is pretty reliable. If you want a more commercial solution, the Meraki network (the predecessor of open-mesh) is very robust but more expensive.

Computer will not turn on

The only things that can do this are: A card failure, a hard drive failure, Motherboard faiulre, A Power Supply failure, Faulty RAM. To toubleshoot.. disconnect Hard Dive, CD/DVD remove any & all cards, see if it boots,if it does, add the Hard Drive, reboot, then add the CD/DVD, reboot, then replace A card, reboot & so on... until ya find the faulty component, that stops it. If it doesn't remove ram & see if it powers up, it will NOT boot. If it doesn't ya PSU is most probably faulty. If it does ya RAM/motherboard is faulty. So basically strip it down see if it powers up. than add things one at a time to find the culprit.. then replace the ofending item.
