Headset jack doesn't work

Hi there- I bought this phone recently and love it however one of the units is a real clunker. First the headset jack stopped working- I can still talk on the regular phone but can't use the headset. Then it started dying if I moved around the house a little, it would say out of range. It just seems to be a defective unit. I was thinking of returning it to the manufacturer (that's what bestbuy recommended) but not sure how to do that.
any ideas?
