Question about Gateway PC Desktops

1 Answer

How can I disengage the extremely sensitive touch pad on my Gateway notepad T-6321.c I find that almost every time I try to input data or write a message, if I even barely touch the touch pad by accident, it either erases my entire message or moves the cursor around indiscriminently. I prefer sing a mouse.

Hello my name is Jei and I hope this helps you out.

Some touchpads have a button located above them. Usualy a small bar. This turns the pad on and off.

Otherwise you may be able to disable the touchpad in the bios. (Consult manual for specific instructions)

Another way is to place a thick piece of paper or cardboard over the touchpad area and securing it with clear tape or a nice sticker.

Alternative methods include taking the computer apart and disconnecting the touch pad, but this should only be done by someone who understands who a laptop comes apart and has the space and tools to do it properly.

I get 3 beeps on my gateway E4500s computer can you tell me what that means? Also I can't get my machines out of going to sleep. I can't get into the bios to change power settings either

This is the advanced troubleshooting section for most computers.

First thing to do is "reseat" the memory modules - Re-seat, with the PC powered off first ground yourself to a metal part of the PC before touching the memory modules and then only handle them by the edges as they are static sensitive. Remove each memory module then reinstall and make sure it's fully and correctly seated. Try the PC and if there are still problems, try one memory module at a time in case one of them is defective.

Tip

USE NOTEPAD FILE AS A DIARY

If u regularly input some text in the same .txt file, having a time stamp before each writing can prove useful.
Like in a diary u can make the notepad to automatically print the timestamp (date and time of input of each text).
You can use two ways,
First... each time before writing something in the text file press F5. this will print the timestamp of the current time.
Second.... In the beginning of the text file write
.DAT
Hit enter and save it.
Now every time you open that file to write something there will be the timestamp

My laptop gateway brand had a problem in cursor is not moving, what is the real problem?

Could be touch pad turned off or configuration issues. Try connecting a USB pointing device to get you going right away.

The touch pad pointer is very jumpy. When it is pointed and tapped it Jumps to top bottom or all four coners. Some times while typing a text it jups on its on. The driver has been installed successfully.

Try going to control panel, mouse/touchpad properties and reduce the sensitivity of the touchpad. You may also want to disable the "Tap to Click" option if you often inadvertantly click on an item.

Go into your controll pannel then click on mouse. On the mouse properties click on Touch Pad, then you can change the settings for sensitivity of the touch for double clicking with the touch pad.

Touchpad problem on VAIO laptop

Have you tried a regular mouse another (USB) input? You may be able to carefully disassemble the pad and clean with a electronic cleaner fluid. Use a light touch with the membrane. If the mouse behaves the same, look at you system and uninstall / reinstall the driver. The oils on your fingers can gum up the surface and make it less sensitive to the electrostatic properties that make a touch pad operate.
