Vista needs different drivers for various devices - make sure you have downloaded and installed Vista drivers for your video, and other devices.

When I'm told to down load to my hard drive is that the same as down load to my computer?

Yes as the hard drive contains the operating system, personal stuff, programs and any files needed to work correctly. Usually to install anything you first download it to your hard drive and if you are asked for a location to save it to you select a folder of your choice. You can usually select Desktop if that makes it easier for you, then it will be right there in front of you. Then you click or double click it to run/install it and follow any prompts that appear. Hope this helps.

Toshiba A135-S4467 runs in safe mode but not normal (Vista)

Hi there,
The fact it starts in safe mode (which means it loads the basics for the pc to run and thats it) would indicate to me that there is something running in the backround at normal boot and also your cpu has a panic attack. Just wondering did this pc come with this version of windows or is it one you downloaded and installed yourself?? If its one you downloaded yourself (which it sounds like) get rid of it, because it is probs corrupted. Get another copy of it or to be quite honest I would get windows 7. Its better ,faster, and a lot less **** runs on it...The fact you changed your hard drive and still have the same problem it sounds like the copy of windows you have...Hope this helps...

This is the requirements for DVD Express. There are a lot of programs that are not compatible with Vista.

Minimum Requirements

  • Pentium II 450 MHz processor
  • 64 MB of RAM
  • Hard Drive free space of 10GB

  • Blank DVD Media (DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, or DVD+R

You might consider to partition your hard-drive so you can run XP on it too and be able to run programs like this one. Hope this helps, sorry for you luck. Let me know if I can help you with anything else.

Can't load SmartDisk FDUSB=TM2 on Vista Premium 64

Hello,
Windows Vista carries a lot of glitches ....we need to give it more time as it improves. The XP environment works better with older technologies like the smart disk floppy drive. My advice is for you to partition your hard disk and place Windows XP on one side and still keep the Vista on the other. That way you can have both OSystems and still be able to use your floppy drive. Alternatively you can upgrade and use a flash drive storage or DVD/CD. They are newer technology which are more compatible with Vista.

Cheers & Kind Regards

Sata drive is not recognized by os during new install

When installing XP or Vista you get the option to load third party drivers for unknown devices. I think it's F6 just after the start of any version of Windows, once you press this you will have to supply the drivers for the Windows installation. This will make Windows recognise the hdd from then on.

WINDOWS XP WON'T LOAD TO HARD DRIVE

1) If you are trying to install from a bootable disk and trying to make a fresh install, you will not come across this error.

2) If you are trying to repair the existing installation, you might need to use FIXBOOT command and try. Please refer the below link before you try this.

Two hard drives Vista and XP not booting

If you would like to start up in the xp ,At computer start up hit F1 or F2 there are so many ways some times its hold the del key ,once your into the BIOS you can change the boot order of your drives to make the drive xp is on load first .You will have to do this everytime or buy a program that will do it for you .I would just leave the power unpluged on one of the drives until you need it that way it will be safe from a virus or if you have a hard drive crash you always have one good drive .Hops this helps.

Xp home installation

You need to have installed drivers for xp for that hard drive. Without them it won't load.
You can go to the Gateway site and enter your serial number to see the original configuration of your system, get the names of the hardware installed on it, and look for drivers for xp for all of that hardware.
Please see this article and follow the links at the end to make sure you have all the drivers needed for an xp installation. Downgrade vista to xp
Also an excellent tutorial for updating drivers here and a source of drivers here

Toshiba satellite screen blank

This could be that the hard drive has failed, and could also be the reason for the initial crash. Run a drive test in the bios or set up. If the test fails in any area then the hard drive is bad and will need replaced. If it passes, then reformat the drive and reinstall XP.
