the scanner is not digital just to let you know

Yes, especially since your area may have switched to trunked/digital systems that would leave only a few working frequencies available to your BC370CRS. Check www.RadioReference.com for a comprehensive database of active frequencies in your area.

If you look on the internet there are manysites that have the frequencies you want However, many police .rescue, and fire departments have gone to digital frequencies and you cannot receive them on a scanner.

The BC370CRS is a straight analog scanner. It will not do digital, and it will not do trunking. I use mine for fire, EMS, and aircraft. Unlike most of today's scanners, it has good coverage of both civil AND military aircraft bands. If you want a preview, you can download and print the scanner's manual, at no cost, here:

If your scanner previously picked up your local police communications, it's possible that their system has been upgraded to a new trunked radio system - a system that your BC370CRS is not capable of monitoring. For a comprehensive database of active frequencies and systems in your area, visit:

First you need to know what frequencies are in use in your area. For a comprehensive database, visit:

To enter (program) a frequency for future scanning:
- Slide the MODE switch to Scanner
- Press the E (PGM) key. This will turn on the PGM indicator at the top right of the display.
- Press the UP or DOWN arrow (above the SCAN and HOLD keys) to advance to the desired channel, OR enter the channel number using the keypad.
- Press HOLD
- Enter the frequency, including the decimal point (e.g. 155.67).
- Press the E (PGM) key.
- To continue programming, use the UP or down key to advance OR enter a channel number, press HOLD, and continue programming as above.

When you're finished programming, press HOLD or SCAN.

I hope this helps. I have a BC370CRS on my desk, and I found that the programming is fairly simple -- once I got used to it.

NOTE: The BC370CRS will NOT work with trunked or digital radio systems. If these are in use in your area you will need a different scanner to listen in.
