Question about Panasonic PV-8400 VHS VCR
Just purchased a 2nd Panasonic PV-8400 series Vcr.
Remote control unit works fine with my other VCR unit.
PV-8400 works fine from the front panel, but will not accept any input from the remote control unit, So I cannot changed any settings.
Is this a function of a faulty IR receiver in this VCR? or is there another problem?
This is indeed a faulty IR sensor. If it's just the sensor, swap with your good one to check. From memory they are plug in - a little device behing d the smoked translucent facia (display panel). I have come across this several times with Panasonic VCRs. Check whether the remote works at night time with all fluorescent lights in the room switched off. If so, the IR filter circuitry is faulty. Same solution - replace IR sensor on VCR.
