Not transmitting or receiving when plugged in

When plugging in the headset to the radio, the transmitting icon comes on and nothing else can happen. The 2 radios work perfectly without the headset. What can be the problem. On the 2nd headset to be plugged in, the receiving icon comes on and same thing.

The head set is stuck in Transmit. try shutting off the radio and then plug in the headset then turn on the radio. some radios can since the presence of accessories but the accessories must be connected before powering on the radio.

Active headset

Your headset is operating in VOX mode. This sometimes will happen if the headset is plugged into the radio when the radio is still turned on. Try unplugging the headset, turn on the radio, then talk using the PTT on the radio. Shut the radio back off. Then insert your headset plug, being certain it is seated (click) into place. Then turn the radio back on and see if it works without VOX. If you are still having problems, press the PTT on the radio one more time and see if it shuts it off.

Not receiving

Hello
I understand this ICON 802 marine radio will not receive.
There are two things to check for. First check the speaker jack on the back side of the receiver also check the speaker plug and the connections. Make sure that the wires are soldered properly. If you have access to an ohm meter connect it to the plug leading to the speaker, it should measure 4-8 ohms. If the speaker checks ok then check the headphone jack on the front panel. The jack has a contact switch internality to disconnect the external speaker whenever a headset is plugged in. You can clean it by using a electronic contact cleaner spray a little into the jack and plug in a headset and turn the plug back and fourth. If this doesn't work, it would be inside the unit itself.
Hope this helps

Issue using headset with motorola talkabout md200

You may have one of the following issues:
1) Defective headset or non-compatible headset. Try the headset on the other radio to see if you experience the same problem.
2) Headset is not plugged in all the way, until you feel a click.
3) Your radio's jack is wobbled out, or defective. Try moving the plug in or out slightly in the jack to see if you can find a sweet spot. Jacks can be worn due to plugging and unplugging chargers or audio devices repeatedly.

Tips:
1) Just as you have been doing, make certain the radios are turned off before plugging in any audio device.
2) Once you plug in the device and turn on the radio, press the PTT button once to initialize the PTT capability.
3) If you continue to have difficulties, reprogram the radios back to a basic operation, shutting off any special features such as call tones, Qt filtering, interference eliminators, weather radio capabilities, etc. Sometimes going back to this basic mode will alleviate the problem. Then one by one you can add back in the features you desire.

Hope some of this helps. Best regards.

Motorola talkabout MR350 headset only sends audio and can not recieve

Likely not compatible. One thing to try is to make certain the transmitting unit is turned OFF when you initially plug in the headset. Sometimes if a headset is plugged into a radio when it is already ON, the headset will appear to be in VOX (voice activated) mode and will not allow the user to receive. Also, if this headset has an inline PTT, it may not be compatible with the radio and you would need to use the PTT on the radio.

If this doesn't work, you would need to use the TalkAbout headset designed for the MR350.

Best regards.

I have set the two radios to match each other , problem is when I plug the headset in it will not transmit. I just bought them yesterday. Why do the transmit with the radio but not the headset mike.

1) Be certain you are plugging in the headset with the radio turned off.
2) Be certain the headset is one designed to go with the radio if purchased separately.
3) If the headset has an inline PTT, use it, not the one on the radio
4) Also, check your VOX settings, to assure it is set the way you would like, including VOX sensitivity.

Best regards.

Hi I have the T5622 talkabout with a PTT headset. I can transmit OK but I am not receiving anything other than a ''click'' when the other person transmits. I have tested the headset and I am able to recive...

Here a few thoughts which come to mind.
1. You do not mention whether the radios communicate with the headset no on the radio. I will at this point, assume they do.
2. Be certain to have the radio SHUT OFF when plugging in the audio device.
3. Check your VOX settings. It could be your radio is going into VOX mode.
4. Only use the PTT button on the headset. Do not press the PTT on the radio at any time while using the headset.
5. Check that you have CALL TONES shut off.
6. Lastly, if nothing else works, go back to a basic mode, and set both radios where there are no special features turned on. ie turn off CODE, Qt Filter, VOX, Call Tones, etc.

Can i have my UH064sx-2 Radio activate & send when i talk into it

AFAIK, this is only possible when you have the headset plugged in. The headset allows VOX operation (voice operated transmission). If there is nothing plugged in or the handset is plugged in, the VOX setting is automatically switched off.

You can adjust the sensitivity of the mic so that it will start transmission only when a certain sound level is exceeded. There is a tiny lag between when it detects the sound and when it starts transmitting.

Using headset jack - unit always transmits

Try plugging in headset BEFORE turning on radio. You should see the word VOX (not iVOX) on your display. At least this is what works for me.

If you are using vox (voice activated transmit) go into the menu and make sure you don't have the VOX setting too high. You should be able to put the headset on... hit the "push to talk" button on the radio and transmit you audio. Turn the other radio on and make sure the radio is "keying" (tx with no auio) then make sure there is audio. If you don't have audio but the radio is transmitting.. you might have the wrong type of plug on your headset for the audio..... there are 2 plugs... 1 for transmit audio....1 for recieve audio. It could be the wrong type of plug for the jack in the radio. Regardless.. the way the headset works is either you push the "push to talk button" onj the radio OR you use the VOX function... with the vox function you just have to talk into the mic to transmit. This is what your headset is designed for. You will have to go into the menu and set up the radio for VOX. If you still have problems follow my directions at the top of this page ( check mic jack and stuff) I think you just have to set the radio up for VOX operation and set the VOX setting. You should be able to push the push to talk button and talk through the mic on the headset. If you don't get any audio that way there is a problem and you should check the jack and plug on the headset.
