Question about Dometic Rooftop RV Air Conditioner

Air conditioner short cycling

I have a 59516.531 rooftop on my RV. I turn it on and on low speed fan t goes off really quick after a gurgling sound and then it pushes out hot air. If I have it on high speed it stays on for about 1 minute more and then does the same thing.

Had a problem with rooftop A/C on 2000 Fleetwood Flair this weekend (first time out all season). Used generator (no electric available at campsite) and as soon as A/C was on for a few moments, it would sound like a 'load' being put on gen'y and A/C and gen'y would shut down...cleaned inside filter...went on roof, took cover off, cleaned what was visible to eye, but still would not work...it did blow very cold air before it shut off though...capacitor? relay switch? Don't know where to start? Refrigerant?

I just now read your problem dated July 21st. Are you still having a problem? I have the same A/C unit and am having a similar but different problem. Let me know if you are still having a problem or have it resolved. At this moment mine is too much to write, but I will share my status. Thanks.

When you say it goes off, are you referring to the compressor kicks out, then fan speeds up ? more details? First thing I'd check is if it's been cleaned good lately ? After you remove your filter inside, take a flashlight & look way up inside for cooling fins, (looks sort of like your car radiator, only smaller) that may be gummed up with dust & dirt. Needs to be cleaned if so. Then remove cover on roof, and inspect the back part that looks the same, clean if needed. Make sure you check both sides of it.See if that makes any difference in operation.

Sounds like the thermostat probe is behind the filter, next to the coil, and not sensing good return air . just punch a hole through the filter so the bulb can sense return air! thank you-very-much!

NOTE THE ON / AUTO SWITCH BETWEEN GREEN,FAN AND YELLOW ,COOL TERMINALS ON THE THERMOSTAT,

BY TURNING FAN ON NOTHING BUT FAN SHOULD RUN..

My ac turns on but just humms, no fan no cold air. a lil gurgling. it worked in my driveway, but when i arrived i can't get it to turn on.

your compressor is starting but the fan(s) are not running, leading to the shut-down of the unit, especially if the condenser fan doe's not operate for heat transfer off the condenser coil to remove the "latent" heat generated by the compressor so it is short cycling and will not keep running to cool this area

Our rooftop RV air conditioner will not cool on really hot days unless the fan is on all the time. Why won't it cool with the fan on auto?

You are asking a lot from a limited resource ... Let it run all day for best results. Make reasonable demands only ...

When you shave ... (you are a guy?) do you run your electric razor at 1/2 speed for best results?

When you curl your hair (you are a girl) do you run your hair dryer on low no heat?
