Question about Xerox Phaser 8500/DN Printer

Screen Dead Phaser 8500 with a dead control panel screen. Anyone any ideas where to start? Out of warranty. All other functions OK including the LED on topside.  Technically capable, so if someone can tell me what they would recommend it would be appreciated.

Great post. I just ran into the same problem. Printer out of warranty and called the number and Xerox is sending a free replacement. Sweet.

Call Xerox Phaser support at 1-800-835-6100 to report that. That is a known problem and they will overnight ship you a console free of charge. There should be no problem with them replacing that for you.
They include instructions and its very easy to pop in.
So call them, they know about the issue and are good in remedying it.

Hi i have phaser 8560, it gives me a error 09,038,46:62248, plese who can solve me the problem.

The onlty thing I can find close to this is.
Acording to the manual its a ink loader error like your loading the wrong type of ink like the puzzles pieces arent matching and hitting the sensor flags right. Yours by the 8 is referring to the black ink. Anyway go to troubleshooting on the control panel. then to service tools. when in service tools press and hold the up arrow while still pressing the up arrow press the down arrow. the display should say hidden menus. go to diagnostic mode press enter go to funtion menu. then go to clear ISC fault and enter. ISC=ink stick count fault. I hope that helps. Just to let you know Ive had nothing but problems with third party ink and once its in the system its hard to get out so I would watch what im doing with my expensive equipment

LCD screen blank on our Xerox 8560 Printer


You should replace the control panel yourself 802K93650. It's a 5 minute job.

NOTE: The Configuration Page can be printed to help solve printing problems and obtain the best results from the printer. Access this page from the printer's Control Panel.
  1. Press the [Up] or [Down] arrow button on the Control Panel to select [Printer Setup] on the Display Screen, and then press the [OK] button.
  2. Press the [Up] or [Down] arrow button to select [Configuration Page], and then press the [OK] button to print.
  3. Press the [Up] or [Down] arrow button to select [Exit], and then press the [OK] button to return to the Main Menu.

Display Screen not available


The control panel has gone bad and must be replaced (part# 848K06552). This is a pretty easy fix. Here is a video that shows you how to replace this part. Iteminc.com has these in stock and ships same day

Xerox 8500 had power surge now it will not reset itself


You will need to reset the Xerox using the reset function (look under the diagnostics menu).

You have to go into Diagnostics. Once in Diagnostics arrow down to function menu.
Then select
Then arrow down to ClearISCfaults hit OK
follow instructions on screen.

We have a Phaser 8560 Printer and we are getting the message "maintenance kit low" message. What does this mean and how do we fix it?


This will require servicing:
The maintenance kit contains a maintenance roller that keeps the surface of the Imaging Drum clean and oiled.
NOTE: Order a new maintenance kit when the Display Screen displays a message that the maintenance kit is low. Replace the kit when the Display Screen prompts you to replace the maintenance kit. Both a Standard Maintenance Kit and an Extended Maintenance Kit are available for the Phaser 8550 and 8560; however, only a Standard Maintenance Kit is available for the Phaser 8500. An Extended Maintenance Kit will not be functional with the Phaser 8500.

WARNING: The printer's interior may be hot! Do not touch the hot surfaces.

Once you have the part: instructions:
  1. Open the door on the right side of the printer.
  2. Grasp the maintenance kit (labeled A) from the maintenance kit slot and pull the kit completely out of the printer.
  3. Insert a new maintenance kit and push the kit completely into the maintenance kit slot. Follow the illustrated instructions included with the maintenance kit for full installation and disposal information.
  4. Close the door.
This will be on the right side of the printer.
This will need to be replace every 10,000 sheets of paper.

Internal diagnostic mode


To enter Test Selection mode from Customer mode and display the Test Selection screen:
  1. Select Information -> Troubleshooting -> Service Tools from the Control Panel.
  2. Scroll down to Enter Diagnostics and press the OK button.
When the system transitions from Customer mode into Test Selection mode, the initial Control Panel display is the Test Selection screen as follows

The front panel shows nothing


When our control panel went blank last month, Xerox did not offer a free replacement because our printer was out of warranty. Consequently, we ordered one from SparePartsWarehouse.com at the best price we could find - $104.87 plus shipping. The part number for our 8550dp is 848K06551, but these are the compatible part numbers for the "Xerox 8500 Control Panel & Bezel": Compatible Part Numbers: 848K06551, 101E28730, 101E28731, 802K93650, 802K93651, 848K06550, 848K06552. It is easy to replace, instructions are on the Xerox website at http://www.office.xerox.com/printers/color-printers/phaser-8500-8550/sprt-enus.html
