Sewing Machine Basics

Basic Problem Check: If your machine is not working correctly ALWAYS follow these steps first.

READ YOUR MANUAL!!!

1. Rethread top and botton threads. This can solve a lot of problems
2. Oil your machine per your mauals instructions. (I find I must oil my emboidery machine at the beginning of each project, but my basic machine can go up to 6 months between oiling depending upon use).
3. Clean you machine per manusal's instructions (don't forget to remove the throat plate and blow out aread below needle).

If these steps don't solve your problems you may need to take you machine to the shop and have them reset your machine to factory specs;.

My footup and footdown button is stuck and I keep getting an E1 error on the screen. Do I need to take it in for repair or is there something I can do to fix it? Machine will not sew because of the error...

Turn the machine off first and unplug.

If you've got a manual, look up the page for trouble shooting, this error message may be listed iwth a solution. I'd also suggest that you remove and clean out the bobbin holder. This is the little black piece you put the bobbin into. It has possibly dislodged if you've had a jam up. You will need to unscrew the two screws holding the needle plate down, take out the needle and pressure foot to give yourself some room too. Put the bobbin holder back into position lining up the red markings on the holder and the stopper, your manual should show images of this.

Once its all back together, turn on and hopefully it will reset to normal mode.
If you've done all this and the error message won't stop showing, then yes, you'll need to take it in for a service.

Drain error still after making sure the washer was level, making sure the drain filter was clean, the drain was clear and replacing the pump motor assembly

LE error? Don't buy a new sensor, don't call a repairman and don't scrap it. The fix is EASY!

Turn the drum 4-5 times by hand to resettle the load, move spin speed to highest, Quick Wash, Speed Wash. It shoudl work just fine. I've had to do this a few times over the last 5 years. Why everyone wants you to BUY parts is beyond me....maybe they need to make some $$ ?

Err2 display and no brew

The KitchenAid website states if it shows Err1 Err2 or Err3 try re-setting the power to the unit if it returns there is a problem with the electronics and Err4 is a stuck button. The Err2 is a heating element falure. Unfortunatley it may cost you more to fix than a new one. If it is less than a year old they may repair it under warranty but after a year your on your own. If you call them and complain that you have read a lot of other people online have the same problem they may repair it for you...Hope that helps.

No brew, error 2

An ERR 2 may be cleared by a simple reset of the coffee maker. This means unplugging the unit and plugging it back in. When powered back on, select a brew function to see if the error reappears.

If it does, ERR 2 indicates an internal error with the computer of the warming plate. This may be covered under Kitchenaid's 1 Year Hassle Free Warranty. I would advise you to call Kitchenaid Customer Service to see what options are available to you. Repair is not recommended, as it is not cost effective for the company or the consumer.

Err2 is a failed heating element. There is no fix or replacement parts sold. I was lucky I had a receipt, even out of the year warranty they(KitchenAid) are still replacing it.

Error 2

The manual that came with my coffee maker (same Kitchen Aide & same ERR2) says if pushing the on/off button a few times to reset it doesn't fix it, it's probably an electrical problem. It comes wirh only a 1 year warranty (mine's about 2 years old). If your maker is less than 1 year old you can call 1-800-541-6390 (M-F 8am-8pm, Sat 10am-5pm Eastern time) for a replacement. Otherwise, you just have to get a new coffee maker. I found no instructions to send it in to get it repaired.

Error E005

Are you looking for the service mode. A E005 is the fuser cleaning web counter. Have you replaced the cleaning web? If so, open the front door and look above the fusing knobe for a small hole above it. Insert a sraighted out paper clip in to the hole and you will see a "$" sing show up in the display pannel. Touch the "*" botton the the numbers "2 & 8 " at the same time then the '*' botton the display will change to service mode. Hit the #6 for counters and scroll till you hi-light web next hold the "clear" botton and reinsert the paper clip in the hole from before and the counter should reset to all zeros. Then turn the main power switch off the on and that is it, done
