It is in the broiler at the bottom of the oven. Get a flashlight when you open the drawer. Look towards the back and you will see the pilot unit. The pilot lights go out all the time on these crappy cheap ovens.

My galaxy range model 790.60012604. The oven do not heat up . The element is lite up but the oven burner do not flame up which leaves a gas smell.

You need a new igniter, it may glow, but is probably not drawing the exact amperage required to open the gas valve decisively... You should also check burner tube and orifice for spider webs or other obstructions... Kenmore Range Stove Oven Igniter 316489402

I need to know how to light the oven? Does it have a pilot light like the stove top

most stoves do not have pilot lights but work from a pizo ignition system
when you turn on the gas knob ,the first action is to energize the pizo and that continually sparks to ignite the gas at the hob
the same is with the oven
ovens should be lit with the oven door open and once lit then the door can be closed

I have a galaxy gas range says it is set up for gas or propane how do i switch it and is it expensive

The cost of the parts is low. Many ranges have the conversion kit attached to the back of the unit. (If installed, pull the range away from the wall and then check the back. Another likely spot is behind the storage drawer.) If the parts aren't provided, then check your manual for information on ordering the conversion kit. (At least one range I've researched had a price under $20 for the conversion kit.)

The biggest cost is to get a licensed installer to do the conversion. This is required to maintain the warranty. It is also required by law in some states. Talk to your gas company (most appliance shops do not have staff that handle propane conversions).

The instructions are included with the conversion kit. It's fairly simple and takes a screwdriver, wrench and ratchet with correct sized socket (mine took a 10mm). A nutdriver can be helpful. Check your instructions for any other tools you need. With the stove unplugged and disconnected from the gas supply, turn over the LP/NG part in the regulator (do not remove the entire regulator). Adjust the air flow damper. Remove the current orifices for both the range and the stovetop. For best results do these one at a time (the orifices are labeled and are for specific locations). In the oven, you need to remove a few covers to reach the various dampers and orifices.

Then connect the stove back to the incoming gas line and power supply (use a new flexible gas line for the connection to the regulator). Check for leaks. Then you may need to adjust the flame for each of the inlets. The stovetop burners usually have a set screw behind the knob so turn on the flame and then remove the knob. The set screw takes a very small screwdriver.

I hope this helps.

(please note I did this from memory after reading the directions on the new stove we had delivered about 2 months ago. That was an LG stove so some differences in the instructions are inevitable.)

GAS RANGE CONVERSION TO PROPANE

Try this site for the conversion factor: http://www.onlineconversion.com/pressure.htm . 1 Water Column [inch] = 0.0361 pound/square inch (PSI) (to a reasonable number of significant figures).

I hope this helps.

Cindy Wells
(However, your stove and tank must be very different than mine. We didn't need to adjust the inlet input for the max PSI, just make sure that the incoming pressure was in the standard range for LP. New stove installed last month after old one suffered a failure of the oven valve.)

No clicking noise when turning the nob..

Most modern gas ranges do have an electric pilot light. This one however does not. Normally you should always get the ignition (clicking noise) whenever you turn the temperature control knob. Provided that the stove is plugged into an electrical source. If you are not, then your ignitor could be out. Replacing it is fairly easy with a difficulty scale of 5/10.

But on to your problem. If you lift the lid on the stove top you will see two holes about halfway between the front and rear burners. Just connect the stove to a gas source and put a match or lighter to this hole. Don't worry, it won't blow up or flare up on you. You will need to do the same thing to the oven. If you open the broiler part of the stove, use a flashlight and look inside. You will see a similar type of gas line. Do the same with a match or lighter.

As with all gas appliances, ALWAYS check your gas lines for leaks using soapy water. If you see bubbles after spraying the solution on, then you have a leak and shouldn't turn the gas on until it's foxed. Use yellow Teflon tape or "pipe dope" on all gas connections.

Paint on stove top is coming off.

with smaller spots you can use appliance touch up paint and it should hold paint down and keep spots from getting bigger. Depending on how old the range is your landlord might be able to order a new top. I would voice my concern to the landlord and see what they might be willing to do to appease your concerns.

Pilot light

Ok the OVEN pilot light is located in the broiler part of the over (at the bottom) If you open the broiler and get a flashlight you will see the pilot light unit for the over at the rear on the top. What a cheap piece of **** these Galaxy ovens are.

Nat gas to propane conversion

With the gas turned OFF, you will need to find the gas regulator on the range. It will located in the back of the oven along the bottom somewhere. It's usually a square shaped valve with a nut on top of it. The gas valve orifice is located under the nut. All you need to do is remove the nut, take the orifice out, flip the orifice over and re-install to convert from one type of gas to the other. It should be marked which side is LP (propane) and which side is for Natural Gas. LP will have a smaller orifice opening than Natural. You will want to make sure the orifice size you are using is facing UP, then screw the nut back on the regulator. You will also have to do this for all the surface burners (if you haven't done so already). You will know if you have the orifice turned the wrong way because the flames will be too high, the oven will get way too hot and there will be soot everywhere. Hope this helps you.
