LG DP781 Charge

I bought a LG DP781 as an open item and it did not come with the original AC adapter. The person helping me said that a universal AC adapter would work. However, when I try to use the universal AC adapter (JEN500) the charge indicator blinks red and the battery does not charge. Any reason why this would not work?
