Non-System Disk or Disk Error results when the Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) cannot find the boot sector or the master boot record is missing or damaged; i.e. the device does not have bootable media. The BIOS searches drives in the order usually specified in the CMOS Setup. This order is often, but not always, A: (floppy drive), C: (first partition on the hard disk)… The error will occur during startup if the CMOS is set so the BIOS seeks the floppy drive first and a non-bootable (or blank) floppy is in (was left in) the floppy drive. Other causes include:

No bootable partition on a hard disk drive

  • A defective hard disk drive
  • The CMOS drive settings (parameters) are not correct for the boot device
  • Defective floppy
  • Defective floppy drive
  • A virus

      RESOLUTION
      loadTOCNode(1, 'resolution');

      To resolve this issue, use one or more of the following methods, and then restart your computer:

      Remove the non-system disk from your boot device. For example, remove the non-system disk from the floppy drive or the CD-ROM drive.

      Change your computer's boot sequence. To do this, you must change your computer's setup and the option that controls which device your computer uses to start from. Make sure that you select a device that has boot files (or operating system files) installed.

      If you start your computer from a hard disk drive, install a bootable operating system (such as Windows XP) on the drive.

    How to use restore disc on hp 7700 mini tower

    Good Luck. Most times the restore disc does not work. Basically you just put it in the drive then turn the computer on and watch for which key it says to hit to Change The Boot Order or Change the Boot Sequence. You have to hit that key when you see the message otherwise you will have to restart. Select your DvD/VD drive and just follow the instructions.

    Wont boot, not even from CD, won't open setup or boot options

    At first you insert your system disc on your cd/dvd rom driver and restart your computer. Now press F2 or DEL until you get your BIOS option. Now go to advance option then boot option in that. Now change your first boot option to CD/DVD ROM DRIVE and save that change by pressing F10. Now restart your computer and continue your installation. Thank you.

    Your startup got corrupted. If you have an emergency boot floppy, you should be able to get to DOS. This may not work unless Floppy is in your Boot order. If your lucky, you have a cd/dvd in the boot order. Try to put your original XP or Vista disks in and see if you can boot. You can then see files.
